ROTARY COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIPS
Perhaps you don't know that for the past several years your local
Rotary Club has been giving scholarships to deserving young people
from the local area. This year Rotary has received 45 applications
from extremely qualified current college students as well as
students entering college this fall as freshman.
Because Rotary has so many local area projects, we can only allocate
a portion of our budget for college scholarships. Current, our
projects include: albergue housing improvements for ranchero
students, diabetes screening & education, fountain maintenance,
dengue mosquito spraying, dictionaries for students from grade 3 to
senior in high school, computers for the high school as well as
computer equipment for the upper grades in elementary school.
We have many deserving students on a waiting list to receive
scholarships. If you can help us by donating money for the college
scholarships it will help these highly qualified students. Rotary
has a Wells Fargo checking account in the States as well as both a
dollar & peso account in Los Barriles. Rotary donations are tax
deductable.

Update on Solomon's Landing
As many of you have probably heard, the owners and management of
Solomon’s Landing have left the East Cape location. We were
surprised and saddened by the sudden departure, as we know how much
the community enjoyed the food and atmosphere and know that our
guests were looking forward to enjoying the fare while visiting
during the upcoming season. We do wish to thank Brian Solomon for
the time that he spent with us but respect his decision to leave.
The good news is that Chef Juan Santos and many of the staff have
asked to remain a part of the operation as they, too, have grown to
love life on the East Cape. We are working quickly to reorganize but
our doors will remain open in the process. Our hours of operation
will be from 11:30am to 10:00pm and we will be open seven days a
week. We have been assured that the fare at the new restaurant will
continue to be of the same high quality as in the past with some new
original dishes created by Chef Juan. The restaurant will now be
operating under the name “Bay View Bar & Grill”.
We appreciate the local support we have received and will continue
to offer a local discount to Solomon’s discount cardholders at the
Bay View Bar & Grill. We will also extend that discount to Tico’s
Restaurant. If you do not have a local discount card, inquire at
either location to sign up.
We apologize for the inconvenience and are looking forward to seeing
