I have had a lot of interest in pictures from the alma fashion show so I have put them in a public area for viewing. Best if viewed as a slide show. If you want a copy you should be able to download them from there. If you have any problems I will try to help.

As you may know the kids play most of their soccer games at La Concha right in the heart of Los Barriles. It is pretty worn down and we have volunteers willing to help repaint but they have no material. Would you be willing to either make a donation to buy some paint and rollers or better yet stop by Comex (they already know the colors & type needed) and deposit to Baja Properties right across the street. The people donating their time will be there to paint tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday). I will be buying the first gallon early in the morning and hopefully by the afternoon we will be prepared for a brand new La Concha.
Thank you so much for participating. Even a small donation will make this work - Muchas, Muchas Gracias!!!
Rick @ Baja Properties

A message from Dr. Mary, the chiropractor...It's that wonderful time, again, when I get to use YOU needing ME as my excuse to come to Los Barriles! I'll be in late on Friday, April 30th and plan to be in the office on Saturday, Tuesday and Thursday, May 1st, 4th, and 6th from 2:00 'til 4:00. No need for an appointment during these hours. But, if you call or e-mail I can give you a feel for when you'll have to wait for others that I know are coming. As always, special arrangements can made by calling 141-0368 or e-mailing to drmary@drmary.net  . You can also check out websites at www.drmary.net  and www.drmarymusic.com  Can't wait to see you!

Various and sundry..
A special thank you to Sandy Gerow who is sponsoring Regina in Tae Kwon Do for four months. The family is very thankful, and Regina is back kicking and working out in class three days a week and working for her "blue tips" at the new studio Sukasana (the Yoga studio up by the highway).
I want to ask if there is someone else who would be willing/able to pay the monthly fees of another girl, 11 year old Kenya Sandoval. Kenya also has had to stop Tae Kwon Do because of economic hardship. She also is very hardworking and talented. She reached level Blue Belt. She lives right across the street from the new studio so transportation is not a problem. Yesterday, she came over to watch class. She said without Tae Kwon Do, she just watches TV, plays with her little sister or sleeps. Her mom said she was very excited about the possibility of maybe being able to take Tae Kwon Do again. The monthly cost is 550 pesos. If you pay for 3 months in advance, the fourth month is free. If you pay for 6 months the next 2 months are free, and for 12 months (6,600 pesos) the next 5 months are free. Thank you for your attention and consideration. bajacamilla@yahoo.com

A special thank you to the Rotary Club and friends for painting the topes. You have saved me from a few surprise jolts during my 2 to 4 trips to town a day. Much appreciated (although my chiropractor may not think so!) Camilla

Does anyone know if the cave paintings in Boca de Alamo are real? I want to think so...If you have a strong opinion, I'd like to hear it. bajacamilla@yahoo.com

b. Item was found!

c. I need an inexpensive, yet reliable float, or amp switch that will shut off a submersible pump when
the water level is too low. The water tank--pilla--is 1000L and the water is "fresh," but pretty
salty--La Ventana. Really amazingly salty, actually. The pump is a 3/4HP 220V submersible. Currently
the pump is set up to pull water out of a 1000L pilla to pressurize a tank, and cuts off when the
tank is at 25 psi, or so. What I don't have is an automatic cut-off for a low water situation where
the city water goes out without me knowing, then the pump sucks the pilla dry and fries. The switch
needs to remain off until the user can check the water level and reset the switch--otherwise the
pump would cycle on and off right at the low water level. Seems like there are two options:

1. float type switch
2. amp switch that measures the higher amps produced by a pump starting to pull air

Suggestions? Are these types available in La Paz?
Gracias,
Eric

d. NEED INFORMATION
When you hire a Mexican worker to do your gardening or any other job, we have been told that you need to pay a "finiquito(?)" or severance type pay to the worker when you no longer require their services. This would apply to anyone hiring a Mexican for any length of time (for example gardeners even for only a few months) unless there is a written contract for services with a definite time limit to complete the job. We have researched information but are wondering if anyone else knows of this Mexican law and what their experience has been. Does anyone know the amount required to pay the "finiquito"? Our understanding is that you would be required to pay 3 months salary if they have been employed for less than 15 years. More money required if 15 years or over. Has anyone out there been asked to pay? If so, what percentage of the salary did you pay?
(I'll open up a discussion on this question so please send answers to the BPE. Remember to stay to the facts. Thanks, Cheryl)

e. Looking for information on Dermatologist in La Paz. Old BPE info mentioned a Dr. Judith. Can anyone give more complete info and/or any other recommendations? rjmoranbaja@hotmail.com
