HEALTH & WELFARE REPORT
Many of you have asked about the guy who was injured at the
Fountain in Los Barriles the day after Thanksgiving-I am
that guy-Eldon Hathaway. I spent more than a week in the
Amerimed Hospital in Cabo San Jose. I was treated for burns
over 20 % of my body. I will have had 3 surgeries
surgeries to my arm and toes. The doctor expects I will make
a full recovery, but it will take up to 8 months. I
appreciate your good wishes and prayers and the really good
news is that I am alive. Your friend and neighbor Eldon

Announcement and Update
East Cape Health Care in conjunction with the Rotary
International held our second annual Diabetic
Screening during the Nov 20 Parade. This year we screened
over 70 local residents for Diabetes and Hypertension with
over 30 % positive results.
We are in the process of obtaining assistance from Rotary
International to continue this much needed program. We
are asking for help, to identify participants and encourage
them to come forward for our FREE Diabetic Program. Included
will be initial screening, ongoing education, home
monitoring equipment, laboratory, medication and vision
screening / glasses.
As always our challenge is finding participants and
continued funding. This program offers assistance in the
prevention of long term consequences of a treatable disease
.

QUESTIONS
a. (1.) I have a set of Farberware pans that were in a
used trailer that I bought here in Los Barriles. They have
not been used for three years. The handles are real tacky
and I have not been able to figure out what to use on them
to take away the tackines. Any suggestions or ideas?

e. Looking for some accurate information from BPE readers.
One of my daughters (a minor) is scheduled to fly down to
SPA with her father on December 23rd to join me and my
other daughter for our Christmas vacation. Just yesterday,
I noticed that her passport is scheduled to expire in April
2011, so it will only be good for about four months after
she enters Mexico. Does anyone have accurate information
about the six-month requirement, whether it is enforced, and
if so, by whom. I spent hours on the Internet yesterday and
could not come up with any official information. The
renewal of a minor's passport can be expedited, but
both parents have to appear in person with the minor at the
State Department office in San Francisco. However, the
first available appointment is on December 21st and I will
already be in Mexico. This kills me because I booked these
flights months ago and it never occurred to me that the
youngest daughter's passport would expire years before the
rest of ours. Please send any responses to

I just received this from the Baja Biscuit who will be
serving food at the Colina del Sol Art Show Sunday December
12 from 9am till 3pm. Check out the bulk Italian sausage
they will also sell. Traditional Mexican food by Lupe will
also be served!!
We are planning on serving our BBQ pork, and our Italian
sausage sandwiches, both come with creamy coleslaw. For
breakfast we have hot coffee, and wonderful apple fritter
and cinnamon rolls. Also we serve a breakfast skillet, which
is potatoes, scrambled eggs, served with sausage gravy over
it.
You can let people know that we also sell our sausage frozen
