GOOD NEWS NEWS FLASH for East Cape anglers participating in the El Cardonal Governor’s Cup Tournament. You can           pre-register for the tournament right here in town on Friday, noon sharp to 1 pm only, at the East Cape RV Resort. Clicerio Mercado, the Tournament Director on behalf of the Governor, said “I would like to make it easy to pre-register without requiring those living in the East Cape to drive the distance to Cardonal. Thank you for sharing this with your community!” Please, share with your angler friends who are fishing the Copa de Gobernador Tournament THIS SATURDAY that they can now easily pre-register at the East Cape RV Resort on Friday, noon to 1 pm, located across from the Modelorama and behind Otra Vez Restaurant. It’s just $100 pesos to enter and the winnings are up to $20,000. The weather looks good, the fish are willing, join in the fun!

At Awesome Sportfishing, we believe the more we’re on the water, the more we’re fishing, the better we are at putting our guests on the fishing grounds. We are having a stellar May and we’re proud to report that Team Awesome, with Captain Luis Duran (from Café Maria’s fame) and Crew Marco Garcia with homeowner Tim Galli & friends aboard won the Rancho Leonero Tournament this past weekend. Two marlin released and 15 delicious tuna caught put them over the top. The $1100 winning proceeds were donated to The Guild for scholarships. Congratulations! Yesterday, albeit with bumpy seas, was marlin marlin marlin marlin marlin marlin, six in all, with San Diego fisherman Gerry Perez and amigos aboard. They finally cried ‘we give’ at 1 pm and headed for the shore. For us, fishing has been remarkable all month including two weeks ago with Captain Adan Ruiz on Too Awesome boating a 200 pound tuna (yikes, on 30 pound test:), plus a 50 pound dorado and 7 tuna for the John Coffey group fishing out of Hotel Buena Vista. With long time client Richard Cecil starting 5 days of fishing, Captain Luis & Marco filled Alaska Airlines’ 50 pound cooler limit after just the first day. Of our 25 days on the water this month, we’ve impressed even ourselves with sailfish, dorado, marlin, tuna, and big roosters. We’re still chasing the elusive wahoo, and we’ve been blanked twice. With a few good days left in May, we’d love the opportunity to put you on the fish as well! a. Wanted to let you know about an excellent taste treat we encountered having our friend Ricardo cater a small party with his Peruvian food menu. He prepared, delivered and served an assortment of cultural dishes from his home country of Peru, including ceviche, potato pie, steamed rice, crispy fresh fish, seco do pollo, salad and dessert. It was truly a culinary treat, an alternative to the usual, and we all were so pleasantly "stuffed".
