Hi Cheryl: Although I personally have had no problem getting California Registration for my Los Barriles SUV without a smog inspection, I know that others have. The problem seems to be that California form REG 256 eliminates Mexico from the exempted area, even though it is only the border area, Tijuana and Tecate, which is actually eliminated. Here is a link which might help. Showing it to a DMV or AAA clerk may help you.

Amigos....I just had the most wonderful email conversation with David Flores, editor of the Gringo Gazette! When I sent him the East Cape Coordinating Council calendar of events I must have left off a couple of important details like...correct contact emails, etc. Anyway I was absolutely appalled when I read the last issue and saw my name on everything....I was exhausted just going down the list!
