c. FERRY FROM LOS MOCHES TO PICHILINGUE - We are contemplating
returning to Baja in mid October via ferry from the mainland. We
have questions that perhaps someone in Ponyland can answer.
1. Is there any issue
driving a USA registered car into the mainland of Mexico. We
have driven into Baja many, many times (never the mainland) and
your car registration is not an issue. However I have heard that
the rules are different for the mainland (at least as it relates
to cars coming by ferry). So, I would like to know if there is
any special procedure for crossing from the US into mainland
Mexico at Nogales.
2. I have been told
that Permanent Residents cannot take a foreign (US) registered
car into the mainland via the ferry? Is the same true about
bringing a foreign registered car into Baja by ferry?
- If you are driving a foreign (US) car and have US
passports does the ferry company ask to see your visa?
- Is there anything else you can tell me about this issue.
3. We have a
medium size dog (I can't hide her in my purse). I know that
dogs are supposed to stay in the car on the ferry. She loves
the car so will be fine, if it is not too hot and can get
fresh air. How hot is it inside the ferry? Is there a carbon
monoxide problem from exhaust where the cars are parked? Any
special advise in this regard on how to keep our dog safe
and comfortable.
4. Any general advise
about traveling by ferry that would help us plan for our trip.
