LATEST AND PROBABLY LAST NEWS: We managed 3 hours flight time again
(!!!), but they didn’t spot the board ... or anything, for that
matter. Roberto’s family are extremely grateful for all our efforts,
but they have asked us to stop the search. It’s been 9 days since he
was last seen –by Cira, at the Diconsa shop in Cabo Pulmo, buying an
energy bar before going for a few hours of good wind.
We have managed to organize daily searches for him for 5 days by
plane, but every day by boat, quad, car, on foot (after some false
alerts), etc. We have done all we can. I know it would have been
great to have some closure, but for now, just know, we have done a
lot, all of us, so, it’s not the thank you mail I had hoped for, but
such is life.
Like Sally would say, I am very –roud to be –art of this community.
Love to you all and all the very best, which you surely
deserve!!!!!!

Lord of the Wind is right after
the new year. The two first great parties of the year are during the
event. First the legendary Reggae held at Buena Vista Beach resorts
will again be the highlight of the week long festival. Then Flat Dog
will be the headliner during the Award presentation and rocking
party to follow.
The Reggae party is Jan 16th and the Award Party is Jan 18th. Don't
be left out as both of these parties sell out early. Both parties
are $25USD or $330 pesos. The Rotary Club will be again at the
community market this Saturday with ticket for sale.

Feel like horsin' around? Please join us this Saturday morning, 8:30
am at the horse pasture just to the north of Ochoa’s Chicken. The
original two highway horses became four when both Momma’s foaled
shortly after they were rescued. Those babies will be three years
old in springtime! Add to those four a roaming free big red gelding
who saw us feeding regularly so we let him in, too. Then we had an
‘unwanted pregnancy’ when a rogue stallion broke in and bred with
Princessa, the original Palomino mare. (No morning after pills for
horses :). The result also happened in springtime and her name is
‘Primavera’ and she’s nearly 9 months. We also care for a lovely
paint mare when her owner is in the states. The three riding horses
need riders but need the weeds worked out first. The babies need
attention and ground work. They are all sweet and easy, just simply
need more attention - 7 horses are a lot to manage. (We are very
good at hay and clean up! Oh, and that rogue stallion? He’s now a
gelding!) Cowboy ‘Dr. Dennis’ will be sharing with us his philosophy
and hands-on approach to successfully start horses for a great
outcome. Please wear boots or tennis shoes. We’ll be doing this each
Saturday and encouraging whatever amount of hands on time you have
available. ?

Baja Night Sky -- December 14/15,
2014: 1) Watch for Mars around 6:45pm above the SW horizon. You will
have to stay up until at least 11pm to see bright Jupiter rising
above the star Regulus in the Sickle, a backward question-mark
asterism in the constellation Leo. Early Friday morning, December
19, between 5:45am and 6:10am, watch for Saturn rising in the east
just below a waning crescent moon. 2) Here are a few things to think
about to increase your wonder and appreciation of the universe the
next time you are out naked-eye stargazing. All of the distinct,
individual stars you see are part of our Milky Way galaxy. And you
can't see more than 2500 of them in the entire night sky at any one
time even though there are at least 200 billion more. You can't see
any stars outside our galaxy. But if you know where to look, you can
see the hazy glow of another 400 billion stars in the Andromeda
Galaxy 2.5 million light years away. The 2500 stars you can see are
all bigger than the Sun. And they are all 2nd or 3rd generation
stars. First generation stars were 100 times more massive than the
Sun. They formed from hydrogen and helium 100 to 250 million years
after the Big Bang. During their short lives, they manufactured the
elements we are made of before exploding as supernovae. Their
remains seeded second and third generation stars like our Sun. You
carry around some of the star dust they manufactured. Less than 50
of the stars you can see at any one time have proper names like
Antares, Betelgeuse or Rigel. The rest are just named by numbers or
Greek letters. Can you name ten? On average, a star in our galaxy
explodes as a supernova every 50 to 100 years. The supernova spotted
in Cassiopeia by Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe, November 1572, was
the last one seen in the Milky Way galaxy. It goes by the name 3C 10
and was brighter than Venus. It disappeared from view in 1574. We
are long overdue. The three leading supernovae candidates are the
ones named above. Take a long look at the night sky the next time
you have a chance. And keep an eye on Antares, Betelgeuse and Rigel.
