aStreet Festival Saturday
There is a lively arts community in Southern Baja, populated with
talented, involved, sophisticated performing artists of every
discipline you can imagine.
Hundreds of these people have all gone into cahoots to bring us a
delightful five days of pop up street performances and tomorrow,
Saturday, is your last chance to see one of these.
There are musicians of course; single acts, small groups and big
groups. Interests range from classical chamber music, to popular
music, and some more aggressive music. There are wandering
magicians, stilt walkers, and jugglers.
There will be flash mobs. A flash mob is a group of people who
quietly, nonchalantly, and singly stroll into a public place like a
mall, then all of a sudden one of them bursts into song! Then others
in this stealth group start singing! Pretty soon there are dozens of
singers interspersed within the shoppers, all belting out the tune
in a chorus.
Many of these performers will engage the public, so if you are
approached by someone who could be a stalker or who looks like
they’re up to no good, maybe not. Go along with it, (especially if
they are 10 feet tall, walking on stilts, that’s a positve sign).
You might be being drawn into the fun.
This is called Pa’h la Calle, which kind of means Take It To The
Streets. They are also calling it an Urban Arts Festival, which is
the best description.
This has been going on for the last few days, and the last
performance is along the Cabo Marina, November 29 from 5:00 pm to
9:00 pm. It’s along the malecon, (marina front), from the Dolphin
Center to the Wyndham.
