I would like to clarify the ROAD REPORT from Sunday, Oct 12th #2062
I did not write the original ROAD REPORT but wish to correct some mis-information in that post.

There was not a landslide south of Loreto. This is an ongoing re-construction project that was started in January this year. The hillside above that section of Hwy - the Mirador (scenic overlook) was very unstable, with rocks falling on the Highway. They have been re-grading the hillside to stabilize it. The re-construction appears to be winding down now and a retaining wall has been constructed at the base of the hillside and it is getting a layer of wire over it to prevent loose rocks from falling in the future. We locals are told that the delays will be subsiding in the next week or so......we hope. We have been dealing with these 15-45 min delays for going on 10 months now. Note:  I don't know the specific details, but I think the construction just north of La Paz falls into the same category.  It's my understanding they're building a 4 lane to Ciudad Constitution and this has been going on for months.  Probably the worst part of the trip. Please correct me if I am wrong.
