Phone report 6pm 9-20: There is some water
from the city well. There is no drinking water to buy.
No diesel fuel in LB. Yes, there is gasoline.
Suggestion, if you're driving down, bring your own food and water.
La Paz is slowly getting most services including banks.
Does anyone know someone in La Ribera with a land
line telephone? I have not been able to reach anyone there because
all my contacts have Cell phones. In particular do you know the
phone number of the "Coldwell Banker representative in La Ribera.
Many thanks for your assistance. Michael Martin - the Brick House.

Los Barriles News: They have started work in the BA
arroyo. Looks like they are trenching for a water line and filling
in the section that washed out. …nice to see them working on a
Saturday. There were several people parked in the San Bartolo arroyo
using their cell phones. We had water at the office today but still
no power. Saludos. Pam

A Federal Police helicopter landed in Cabo Pulmo Friday,
September 19th to bring bags of food to the locals. Though we
did not get a direct hit from Odile and not too much damage
everyone is afflicted by the need to resupply. Each bag looked
to contain one bag of rice, bag of beans, bag masa corn flour,
bottle cooking oil, two cans tuna, two cans sardines in tomato
sauce, small bag powdered milk and small bag choco powdered
milk. It felt good to see them here and for them to do this.

Please post this film showing San Jose after Odile...it's a
heartbreaker, but beautifully done....

On Thursday, September 19, 2014, guests staying in our EL
NIDO villa departed Cabo Pulmo at 8:45AM, bound for Los Cabos
Airport driving a rental 4x4. At the downed Cuadano bridge, they
crossed the arroyo on an earthen bridge (complete with
culverts), arriving at the airport at 11:00 AM. They were met by
US Embassy personnel and escorted to a Southwest Airlines plane,
past lines of people trying to depart, and boarded the flight to
San Diego by 11:45 AM.
In contrast, friends who rode out Odile in a Cabo San Lucas
hotel, fearful of the looting and lack of policing, drove in
their 4x4 rental car to La Paz via Todos Santos on Tuesday, the
17th, hoping to find a flight. Nothing was available so they
drove back to Los Cabos Airport via Todos Santos on Wednesday,
the 18th, stood in line for 8-hours in the sun at SJD, and were
able to take a US Military flight to Los Angeles, California.
They were charged $600 each for the flight to LAX but arrived
safely in California the night of the 18th

San Jose Storage clients: Written 9-20-14
I apologize for the delay in getting you out an update. We have
extremely limited internet access. The employees am my family
are all ok, and we are working around the clock to secure the
storage facility and protect your belongings from looting and
theft. We have no electricity or telephones at the facility.
The mini storage buildings are 95% intact. There is a chance
that some water got inside from all the wind and horizontal
rain, but no flooding of the floors occurred. I will contact
clients individually to address any specific damages as soon as
possible. Some local clients have already came to check their
unit and so far everything was dry and in the condition they
left it.
The cars under the covered parking structures is where most of
the damage occurred. Many vehicles have broken windshields and
aesthetic damages from the flying debris and the damaged covered
parking structure itself. We have begun to tape broken windows
and secure the vehicles for the storm this weekend. All the
vehicles seem to be able to be driven off the lot. Again I will
provide photos and address clients individually regarding
specific damages to their vehicles as soon as possible. For
those who did not leave their keys and do not plan on returning
in the near future, it would be very helpful if your could DHL
them to the following address (please keep the tracking ID):
We have 2 security guards working at night to protect the
facility from looters. So far we have not had any issues. I am
onsite every day and some nights with the staff.
I will provide more specific individual updates as soon as
possible. Again please forgive my general update at this time
but I wanted to get you out something as soon as possible.
