We received a call today from the CFE and they wanted to reserve 30 rooms at Palmas de Cortez for tonight so it sounds like they are sending in a large crew. We had them call the hotel directly (we are answering calls from the U.S. right now) because the hotels are on limited generator power right now (one of ours at Palmas is down) so they could try to accommodate them as bsest they can between Palmas de Cortez and Playa del Sol. Hopefully that means they will be hard at work to restore the power soon.   Shannon and Eddie Dalmau  Van Wormer Resorts

La Riviera Mariana:  No damage to any boats. A few ripped biminis, and lost flags. Security reports that there is 7' of water in the channel.  They also report a couple of trees afloat that were washed in from the arroyo. These were to be "pulled" out by Panga today (9/22/14).  The Marina office is no longer there, as it was rolled over numerous times.  The guards are still on duty.  From Dave Kinzer

Bancomer was working yesterday.  Did not need a Bancomer card to get in the ATM door, either.
Was able to get my daily limit of 6,000.00 pesos on my Chase card.

We got a 'rescue flight' with Alaska Airlines out of Loreto. We drove our rental car up there and had no problems. We were able to get a terrific deal on a beautiful hotel up in Loreto called Posada del Cortes. I'm attaching some pics taken 9/17/14.

ROAD REPORTS - I will stop printing road reports going north unless something unusual happens.

a.  Road Report: Tecate crossing to Guererro Negro -I drove 12 hours south yesterday, towing a 20' trailer loaded with furniture and appliances. The road is back to normal, no issues, no flooding, no landslides. The most interesting thing I saw was the huge desert lake that forms south of Catavina and the hundreds of cattle lounging in the mud around it. Repeat, road conditions normal.
It's now 0530, headed to Loreto, more to follow.

b.  Yes we made it, the road is ok, some rough arroyo crossings in Loreto, Santa Rosalia and San Ignacio, some of them with water but any car will pas just, and between Vizcaino and Guerrero Negro the road is bad, some places you will have to wait because in only one lane, the water ate the other lane.  It is going to take longer, but it is ok, plan to spend three full days to be safe if you want to drive only daylight. After Guerrero Negro the road is as always, and right after Cataviņa you will pass a water crossing, but that is it.
