Reopening of Los Cabos
Consular Agency - Tijuana, B. C., February 25, 2015.- The U.S.
Consulate General in Tijuana is pleased to announce the reopening of
the Los Cabos Consular Agency on March 2nd, 2015. The Agency will
offer routine and emergency services for American Citizens visiting
or residing in Baja California Sur. Document services will be
available at new hours in the same location, starting on Monday,
March 2nd:
• Monday through Thursday, 9:00AM to 2:00PM, except U.S. and Mexican
holidays.
• The Agency will reopen at the same location: The Shoppes at
Palmilla, in San Jose del Cabo.
Available services will include passports, Consular Reports of Birth
Abroad, and notaries by appointment only. The Agency is unable to
provide any visa-related information or services. The Consular
Agency will perform notarial services and receive applications for
U.S. passports and Consular Reports of Birth Abroad. To request an

a. Traffic Stop: LaPaz Policia
Warning: Be aware of the Policia check-point on the southbound road
(Hwy 1) into and out of LaPaz that was put in after the hurricane.
Last week our friend who has been visiting East Cape and was driving
a rental car headed south out of LaPaz, the LaPaz Policia (not the
Federalies) waved 2 cars through and then stoped our friend, telling
him that they had got a message over their radio that he was
speeding. And it was the same old line of "we can take care of the
ticket here and not have to go to the Precinct because it will be
cheaper". He was terrified and was basically robbed of $150 USD. I
told him that unfortunately this happens from time to time and that
you have to hold your ground calm & firm and tell them that you'll
need to call your Abogado (Lawyer) and we'll all go to the precinct
and take care of this. Call their bluff. Also, the Gringo Gazette
