There have been a number of questions concerning TMobile cell phone
service in Baja and Los Barriles. Will TMobile work: No and Yes!
Neither AT&T or TMobile work directly in LB. In a short answer, the
US Carriers trade time with Telcel and Telefonica MovieStar. With
the AT&T Viva Mexico Plan you get a set amount of Talk Time that
rolls over from month to month. The ATT Viva Mexico plan charges an
additional $15 per month. TMobile just announced a plan to begin no
additional fee service in Mexico. TMobile will use the same Telcel/MovieStar
backbone. The advantage to TMobile's plan is the inclusion of
international texting and data at no additional charge. The data
stream will be 2G speed - good enough for email and slow surfing.
The TMobile package is $50 per month and I believe that does not
require a contract. TMobile's plan that includes free calls from
Mexico was just announced a week ago. Not all agents may be up to
speed on the details. There may be a small hitch with TMobile. Their
terms of service in 2013 limited your time out of the US to 6 weeks.
In 2014 it was 90 days. The terms of service for 2015 do not specify
a time but do say that the primary use will be in the US. If you are
switching to TMobile it might be wise to ask if there is a defined
limit to be out of the country. ATT did that some 8 years ago to
some customers who were clearly permanent residents outside the US.
ATT has since dropped that pressure.

We’re moving some items down to our new place and would like to have
advice on towing a boat, vehicle and quad runner from the Otay Mesa
border crossing in California. We will be leaving these items at our
place in Los Barriles. This is our first time and we’re
investigating border crossing regulations, Mexican Insurance, etc.
We will also be bringing our dog (75 lbs) and welcome any advice for
pets. We are hoping to stay at RV parks on the way down and would
love to have a recommendation of safe places to stay with all of our
things. We’ve printed out some info. on line but would love to talk
