10th Annual ALMA Fashion Show is being held at Bay View

be having a 2nd craft Saturday on March 19th at the same time. We

students of the LB Elementary. We are having two dates this month to

The SNAP (spay, neuter and
prevention ) group with the vets from Los Cabos Humane Society
spayed and neutered 47 animals last Tuesday. A big thank you to the
many wonderful volunteers for their loving care of the animals.
Lunch was provided once again by Sandy Johnston and her elves. We
have in foster care a sweet female, medium size looking for a
permanent home. We s/n 6 feral cats.

Heintzman will be providing his wonderful music this Saturday March
5 at Lazy Daze at 3:30 PM at the Auction for La Paz Orphanage.
Bidding will begin at 4 PM. There are numerous items for auction
with many of them listed on BPE #2420 and a complete list at Joe's
Deli. A FREE beer will be given to all who secure a bidding paddle
at the auction. Please bring your chairs As we get
ready to hold the 2nd annual auction for the Nuevo Creation
Orphanage, we want you to know where the funds will be used. This
year, the objective is to complete three projects that will help
greatly to improve the lives of the kids. They are:
1. design and install the electrical infrastructure by
having an expert design it. It will
eliminate exposed wires from building to building, reduce the
electrical bill, have an
accurate installation for indoor and outdoor needs. 2. The kitchen
needs to be set for the
amount of people it's feeding; approximately 70-80 meals a day.
Paper, food storage,
ventilation and extraction of heat, especially in the summer. 3.
Laundry room needs upgrades
to keep up with the work load and storage. One machine can not do
all this work. As we
project to have funds left over, one of the primary needs is to
cover a monthly fumigation
plan to comply with the state safety regulations. The remainder will
be distributed in allowance
for the daily operational needs. Thank you in advance for coming on

Semana Santa (24th, 25th 26th
March) - For 20 years Semana Santa has been
attracting visits from all over Mexico to Los Barriles. As part of
the celebrations, the town of Los Barriles organizes a series of
activities including soccer games, a duathlon, fishing activities
for both adults and children and the famous volleyball tournament
that attracts talent from all over Mexico.
The whole community is invited to get involved with
these activities, and you can see more information in due course on
our Facebook page regarding the schedules for the three days.

Key events to look out for include:
1. Queen of the Sea – this is a competition for one girl in the area
to be crowned ‘Queen of the Sea’ during the Semana Santa
celebrations. There are currently five finalists, and they have a
variety of tasks to fulfill, which they get points for, that will
contribute to who wins the crown. The tasks include a trash
collection campaign that took place this weekend. The girl with the
largest group of supporters to pick up trash in her designated area
received more points. On March 4th there will be an event at La
Cancha where the community will be able to vote for their favorite
candidate. We invite the whole community to attend this fun event
where they will also get to see the candidates talk to the crowd.
The event starts at 6pm and costs only 40 pesos. The final part of
the judging will take place on March 26th as part of the Semana
Santa festivities where a panel of judges will decide the overall
winner. The queen will be crowned as part of the closing ceremony
and party.
2. Kid’s Trash Initiative – as part of the clean-up operation for
the town, we are incentivizing children to bring bags of trash in
return for a toy. Normal trash goes in a black bag, and trash for
recycling goes in a white bag. If you see the children in town,
please thank them for their hard work!
3. Closing beach party – there will be a community beach party on
the 26th March (in front of Don Pepe street). Everyone is invited to
join to celebrate being part of the Los Barriles community.
