I recently purchased and installed a new TV Box from
Henscoqi - K1 Plus Amlogic S905, available from Amazon for $46. Once
installed, connected to your internet and attached to your TV via
HDMI cable, it acts similar to other TV boxes with some major
exceptions. Content including TV, movies and sporting events is
available free of charge and the content is fairly recent again with
no charge. Music is available as well. It has USB ports that allow
you to show your own content with installed players. The only draw
back is the remote. The remote can be used in a "TAB" mode or if you
read the brief manual, there is a pointer mode. Oddly, it uses a
cell phone based android operating system. Relatively easy to use.
The SAF (Spousal Acceptance Factor would give it a 75% largely due
to the remote. There is a small keyboard/touchpad available that may
raise the SAF. The unit does require an internet connection for
streaming content but not for content that you have.
We have had our new Google Project FI phones for most of the season.
Our combined bills for two phones are well under the $80 ATT plan
for two phones. The call quality is excellent. Google uses WiFi for
voice, data and test when available. Calls over WiFi are the best
I've heard. Roaming is 20 cents per minute. We use our phones 95% of
the time at home in the WiFi environment. Roaming data is $10 per
Gig and you only pay for what you use. Our bills are usually under
$60 for the two phones in Mexico. In the US we have unlimited calls,
text and the same data charge ($10 per Gig). Again, the phones use
WiFi or the strongest of WiFi, TMobile or Sprint. In the US our max
charges will be under $60.
Note: Since I've had my phone, I have not received any junk calls or
junk voicemails. My voice mail greeting says: "You have reached the
FBI surveillance center. Please leave your name and number which we
already have and an agent will return your call". Go Figure! No
messages!

Baja Night Sky #95, March 7-- 1) Correction:
If there are mountains to your west, sunset will occur BEFORE
official sunset times. An astronomy app gives 7:38pm for tonight's
sunset at our location in El Sargento, but the sun will drop below
the mountains to the west earlier, between 7:10 & 7:20pm. To see the
day-old crescent Moon and the planet Mercury Friday evening, go out
around 8pm (or 40 minutes after sunset) and look west above the
sunset point. Binoculars should help you find Mercury to the lower
right of the Moon. 2) For insomniacs: Omega Centauri is the
brightest globular cluster in the night sky, a ball of 10 million
stars orbiting the Milky Way 18,000 light years from Earth. It is
easy to find with binoculars between 1 and 2am this week when the
Southern Cross is just above the south point of the horizon. Find
the two bright stars on the horizon at the lower left of the Cross
that point to its top. From the fainter, the one on the right,
extend a line upward about one fist to the nearest medium-bright
star. Continue upward a shorter distance until you see a glowing orb
the size of the moon through binoculars. If you are still in Baja
around June 7, look for Omega Centauri at 9pm. Click on the link for
a photo of the cluster:
