assistance within the Amerimed Clinic serving the local Mexican
community with Medical care, medication and diagnostics support. The
East Cape Community Dental Clinic ( free dental care to children) is
located in Plaza del Pueblo across from Buzzards Cantina. Community
referrals are welcomed
Donated FUNDS, Medical and Dental Materials are a constant concern
and much needed for sustaining these program.

Hola amigos! Once again, if you have an interest in joining a pretty
cool football pool, you have a great opportunity to do so now. All
of my Baja amigos are invited to join my private NFL Confidence Pool
called SMOKEY'S PICKEM. This is our third year hosting the
pool and it has been alot of fun for all players. Once again, the
pool is being hosted on a website called officefootballpool.com.
The cost per player is $125.00. Weekly winner gets $5 x number of
players. All remaining monies will be paid out at the end of the
year to top three scorers. Feel free to invite other friends to
become players.
Please note that there are some changes to this year's pool. We are
now doing a Confidence Pickem Pool. This means that we will pick
games (including spreads) in addition to ranking the games between
1-16. If you win the game, you score the amount of points which you
ranked the game. So, you rank the game you have the most confidence
in at 16 and so on and so forth on down the line to 1. The player
with the highest score (not necessarily wins), will win the week.
For those players who have been with us in the past, we did this
type of pool during our first year.
From the $125 fee, 10% will be retained by pool administrator to
cover hosting fees and other administrative costs such as money
orders, envelopes, postal costs, etc.
All fees must be paid in full IN FULL by start of the first regular
season game!!!!!!!!!!!! Fees may be paid at Smokey's. You will be
given a receipt. If you have questions about rules, they are posted
on the website within our pool.
Joining the pool is simple. Simply click on the link below and you

FROM LA PAZ
WE HAVE SET THE DATE!!!!!
Come join the fun. Subasta 2009 will be held Sunday, December
6 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in Marina de La Paz. This is the 21st
anniversary of the annual auction to benefit needy children of La
Paz. While the event is coordinated by Fundación Ayuda Niños La Paz,
A.C. (FANLAP), Club Cruceros de La Paz, A.C. continues to be a main
sponsor of this event.
We accept items for boats, homes, clothing, or any other “treasure”
you would like to donate to the cause. Please bring donations to the
Marina de La Paz office, Legaspy and Topete, during normal office
hours or contact us at the phone number or email addresses below.
We need volunteers weeks before the event to price clothing, make
minor repairs to donated items and separate articles to be auctioned
from those which will be sold. The day of the auction, we need
helpers to work at all the booths: the bazaar, the beer and soda
booth, the bake sale, bargain table, and the cash drawers where
pesos and dollars are exchanged for scrip.
We plan to have our new cookbook, Recipes 4 Scholarships, available
for sale at Subasta too - all proceeds support the FANLAP Junior and
Senior High School Scholarship Program. If you haven’t submitted
your favorite recipe for inclusion, you still have time. Email your
recipes to

If you are planning to visit La Paz, perhaps you can find a small
space in your luggage, trunk or bilge for some of the small items we
like to add to the 300-400 Christmas presents given to the children
we work with, for example: pencils, pens and colored markers; tooth
brushes and toothpaste; shampoo and hand lotion; socks and
underwear; cars and dinosaurs; and Barbie and Bratz dolls and doll
clothes (we have a bag full of donated dolls as bare as the day they
were born!)
