A classical music concert will be held at the Music Museum in El
Triunfo, BCS (on Highway 1 between Los Barriles and La Paz), on
Saturday, December 12, at 2:30 PM. Well-known local pianist Maestro
Nicolas Carrillo, will play works by Debussy and Chopin, and the Los
Cabos ensemble, Camerata del Desierto, will play two tangos and
Mozart. Admission, 100 pesos, to benefit the museum. Thank

Cars in US/Mexico
a. Each year before we head for Baja for 6 months I file an
AFFIDAVIT OF NON-USE (find it online at
www.dmv.ca.gov ) with the
California DMV and ask my insurance carrier, State Farm Mutual, to
suspend my car insurance. I give both the DMV and State Farm a start
date that will be a few days after I cross the border. When I am
ready to return to the states I email State Farm and give them a
border crossing date (with a couple days leeway). They contact the
DMV for me and my car is legal for driving in California once again.
If you leave your car here all year you need to go to a DMV office
in California (don't know about other states) and tell them your car
will be more than 100 miles from the border in Mexico for the year.
Usually they will tell you you must still get it smogged, etc., but
that is not true. You have to keep asking and go to the next level.

event on "The Island" at Marina Puerto Los Cabos on December 12.
"Cabo Comedy Under the Stars" features CASH LEVY and MICHAEL LOFTUS
who are two of the best headliners out of LA right now. They are
going to put on an unforgettable stand up comedy show. People can
bring their own blankets, picnic baskets, and coolers. The tickets

a. Possible Large Swells Thursday - There is an unusually large
swell train heading toward Baja from the NW that will arrive here
Thursday (mas o menos) for 2 to 3 days. Actual waves in Hawaii today
were 35 to 45 feet with some sets to 50 feet. If anything like that
makes it here there will be beach erosion and probably all beaches
will be awash. Just the large swell that showed on this Sunday sent
all beaches awash and it was about 15 to 18 feet. This is not hard
fact. It's about like warning about an approaching unreliably
forecast hurricane . But there could be some surprised people and
even some wet houses. This is the kind of event that forms the
estuaries. I just had to pass it on. I've got sources you can

b. Sierra De La Laguna Two Day/One Night Trip - December 18-19,
2009. The Sierras are absolutely beautiful this time of year and
we're planning 2 days of moderate hiking and 1 night of camping in
the foothills of the Biosphere Reserve. You only have to carry a day
pack with things you want on the hikes and we'll take care of all
the rest. We'll leave Todos Santos at 9:00 AM on December 18 and
return by 4:00 PM on December 19. Your bilingual Mexican guide is
very knowledgeable and fun, and is also a certified Wilderness First
Responder. $150/person includes guide, gear, meals and
transportation from/to Todos Santos. It's a fantastic way to relax
before the Christmas rush. Registrations must be received by Sunday,
