Upon returning to California we stayed at Hotel Jardin-Baja in San
Quintin. Carmen and Guillermo were great hosts. Hotel is immaculate!
Rates are very reasonable (from 380 to 500 pesos). Extremely
comfortable beds. Complimentary morning coffee. Pet friendly. The
adjacent restaurant (closed on Mon) was wonderful . . .great food .
. very fair prices! Highly recommend this property. It makes it an
easy drive to the border (4.5 hours via Tecate) so you can cross
noonish when traffic is almost nonexistent! We had no wait in line
on Mon. the 7th Dec. Hotel contact: Ph MX 011 52 616 165 6060 or Ph

Feliz Navidad to everyone from your Chiropractor, Dr. Mary. I have
missed you all terribly. But, it's been necessary for me to spend
all of my spare time this year caring for my mother following her
stroke. I know that some of you have kept up with her recovery on
the blog at www.drmarymusic.com
Thank you for your kind words and continued prayers. She IS
improving, though it's been quite a journey....The good news is that
I'll be back to LB January 6th for 6 days and will look forward to
seeing and taking care of you then. In the meantime, I've been so
happy to know that Dr. Smith has continued to be there at least a
day each month to take care of you. My family and I plan to be there
most of February and part of March and then I'll get back on my
regular monthly visits, as I have for the past few years. Thank you
for your kind patience and MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!
drmary@drmary.net The
latest CD won't be recorded until Spring of 2010, as it looks now.
But, I'm so happy that many of you have been enjoying the earlier
recordings and the most recent one of 2008-2009

Cactus questions posed by a reader:
> Does this apply to Mexicans as well as foreigners?
> Does this apply to the transporting of cactus only?
> Does this apply to having cactus growing in your yard or place of
business?
> Does this apply to buying and transporting a cactus from a
nursery?
> Does this apply to possessing of a dry agave bloom commonly used

> Does this apply to the preserving of cactus when they are going to

> displaced by building construction?
> I think that Josefina's statement needs much clarification.
Answer from Josephina: Here we go...
as you know there is more of 1000 types of cactus,
this law apply to this type:
CARDONES, CHOYAS, PALO BLANCO, PALO VERDE,
PALO DE ARCO, PITAHAYAS ( all types )
TOROTES ( elephant tree).
Does not apply if you find it dry,
but applies if you found alive...
if you have a land and have any of those types of trees on it.
you will need to have a SPECIAL permit by ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT.
before you remove any of those, otherwise you can have a large fine.
of course the nursery have only the legal type,
because they have supervision every 3 months,
but if you have a dry one no problem.
the law is for everyone mexicans or foreigns,
apply for transportation, etc...

MEDICAL INSURANCE
I did a lot of research years ago on getting Major Medical Health
Insurance down here and found an agent in Florida who writes
International Policies which cover you anywhere in the world, and
also the US but no more than 60 days. I could not even get health
insurance in the US anymore because of prior problems and this man
was wonderful. He found me a policy that required no medical history
and I pay about 135.00 a month, but I think it depends on your age
and what policy and deductible you pick. Mine has a 250.00 ded. His
website is:
www.globalhealthinsurance.com His name is Carlos Perez and
some of his policies are even underwritten by US companies. Sharon
