My redfox Labrador, Federica, is lost, she has red collar. She´s missing since yesterday. Most of our neighbors around the hotel Buenavista know my dog, she´s extremely friendly and she goes with anyone who calls her. Please can you post this. Subject: DMV requirements for plates and Driver's License

There was a statement in the last BPE that was not exactly true in all states. You may have a vehicle permanently located in another state and be licensed to drive in another state. For instance, I leave a car in storage in South Dakota because I spend 3 months a year in South Dakota in my RV in a Park. I am a full time resident of another state and have a vehicle registered in that state. I cannot tow the RV trailer and car, so I leave a vehicle in South Dakota. Since the Storage Vehicle lives in South Dakota, it must be registered in South Dakota. The mailing address for all my vehicle registrations is the same address. By the way, I called South Dakota to make sure I was legal. I also have a vehicle registered in Oregon when I sail in the Gorge, same rational. As well, under the Soldiers and Sailers relief act, active duy personal are exempt as well.

SECURITY DISCUSSION

a. I've been following the "security" news here on the BPE, and I'm not at all encouraged. There's talk of ten more police officers. This is good for the ten men and their families, and for the local government bureaucracy, but am I the only one who thinks this will be little to no help with our security concerns? Worst case scenario: we get ten guys riding around in cars, burning gas, and supplementing their salaries in typical fashion by putting the bite on gringos whenever they can.

Ten cops cannot possibly be effective. "Coverage" is impossible. A break-in crew will wait till there are no cops around, and then will take only seconds to get inside a house, where they can work unseen, and then only a few moments to load up their booty and calmly drive away. Ten more cops will certainly be glad to cash their paychecks, but how can they be effective?, and how enthusiastic are they going to be really, in what is essentially taking sides with gringos against their fellow Mexicans? It just feels to me like the wrong way to go about it.

In these remarks, I mean no disrespect to Mexicans or their culture. Fact is, I respect them substantially more than I do arrogant and all-too-often self-absorbed Americans. (Well, duh!)

If there is a website, blog, etc for an ongoing security discussion, would someone please email me -- jrd1415@yahoo.com -- because I need to keep my home on The Ridge safe, and relying on more police is not going to get the job done.
