We are really progressing in making our paradise a lot more secure
for everyone.
We have been successful in obtaining a commitment of ten additional
municipal police officers on a semi permanent basis. We are working
on making this assignment permanent and have obtained high level
support from officials at all levels. This commitment of additional
police personal to Los Barriles is significant and was one of the
groups primary goals. We have also had discussions as to what the
American community could do to help the police. One suggestion is
to build kiosks at strategic locations, manned by police.
The Santa Maria homes association has committed $2,200 dollars for
both our attorney's bills and the building of a community substation
at the intersection of the dirt road and the paved road.
The Los Barriles Security Panel is working very hard and spending a
lot of time and their own money to help make this happen. We
appreciate the support you have all sent our way with emails.
Now...it is time to ask for monetary support as well as costs are
mounting. If we can get each of you to donate $50 or more it would
be a great help.
So....please make arrangements as soon as possible to pay our
attorney directly, whether it be through Dennis or however you need
to do it. We appreciate your support to help us all keep our
paradise crime free.

kind that roll into a canister. I don't have enough clearance for a
regular door to open. They sell them and Lowes in the states but I
haven't been able to find a place that sells them down here. Does

I am replying to the person wanting to know about airport
transportation
Without a dog, I always take the bus . Leaving Los Barriles ask the
driver to drop you off at the airport turnoff. Walk drag luggage one
mile and you are at the Ak Air terminal 3/4 mile to the other. If
you are in a rush flag down one of the myriad taxis going by. When
coming in I usually catch a ride with one of the car rental shuttle
50pesos is appreciated and gets me to a northbound Aguila stop.
Never waited more than an hour and must be at the stop before 7pm.

Hello all,
We feel that we are making a lot of progress regarding our security
issues. We have had several meetings with government officials, all
of whom seem to really want to stop the burglaries. The officials
we have met with so far represent the Federales, State (Ministerial)
and Local (Municipal) police. We hope to meet with the Mayor (I
believe she is referred to as the President) of La Paz County, which
is the county that Los Barriles is in. Hopefully, this will occur
next week.
Our last meeting was with the official that is instrumental in
determining if we can have more police officers assigned to Los
Barriles. He answers to the Mayor. We hope to hear of more
officers in our area soon, as this official indicated would be the
case.
There have been arrests and some stolen property has been recovered.
We will keep you informed when we have further developments. Our
attorney has organized a call list for everyone, which is attached.
We will try to keep this list updated as officers come and go
within a few months in some cases. Print it out, read it and use
it!
It is very difficult to answer individual emails from
everyone...please be patient and we will try our best to keep you
updated.

Sebastien Aguirre at MG2 Tecnologia in the BPE. We called him last
week about our Dish Network problems, and he came out that day and
spent about 3 hours redoing all the wiring and fixed our problem, we
now get all the stations we should and better reception. Sebastien,
Patricia and Marco were professional and friendly. The technicians
speak perfect English and we would highly recommend them. He can be
