Thought this might be of interest. Just drove from San Diego to Cabo and the roads were perfect all the way. Very little traffic and only a few slightly rough spots between Guerrero Negro and Catavina and that is nothing out of the ordinary.
Some information on the gas stations in Santa Rosalia: Two summers ago I reported a scam at the last gas station on your right as you are leaving Sta. Rosalia coming south. There are now three gas stations and I tried the first one on your right as you enter Sta.Rosalia from the north. They pulled the same scam. The pump shuts down at $100 pesos and no gas has gone into your tank. They then ask if you want them to proceed and then you get charged for both fuelings. I refused to pay, called him a ladron, and he backed off and said he would not charge me. I did not pay the $100 peso charge. He knew he was caught. Don't know about the other two stations...but this scam seems to be spreading. Don't fall for it. Best to gas up in Mulege and then again in Loreto.

While at the La Ribera dump today ( Nov 1st ) we saw 4 healthy young puppy dogs huddled under some tree trimmings. It looked as though someone had left them there in the shelter of the branches. There was an old metal tin left under the branches which appeared to be ideally placed as a water or food dish. It was empty and dry. We left them all the water we had. And also left them some dog food, which they eagerly consumed. These pups look quite healthy. 5 or 6 weeks old. They must have recently been abandoned there. If anyone out there in Pony Express Land can help these fine pups please visit them at the dump at the corner of the road to Cabo Pulmo and the dirt road to Punta Colorada.
