Rotary News: Our local Rotary Club welcomed members from the Modesto
East Rotary Club who donated almost 400 Spanish dictionaries to all
of the students in grades 3 to 9. They joined our club in
distributing them to the primary and secondary schools in our
community.
Another Rotary club from San Clemente donated Spanish to English
dictionaries for the high school students in Santiago. Literacy is
one of the major projects within Rotary International and we thank
both clubs for helping us to help our students.

by the Asociacion de Artes del Mar de Cortez A. C. on December 13Th.

Microsoft is offering a free Anti Virus and Anti Spyware program. I
am using it on two of my primary computers and find that it is just
as good as the best programs that you actually pay for. The link for

Don't forget to back up you vital documents, pictures and files.
It's always a good idea to back them up on a removable hard drive
but also burn a DVD and send it to someone you trust. A nationally
known author recently had his laptop stolen with his entire life's
work on the computer. No problem you would think since he backed up
everything on an external drive - the thief stole the laptop and
external drive.

b. Swim With The Whale Sharks! - On Sunday, November 15 we will be
taking a group to La Paz to swim with the whale sharks in the Sea of
Cortez. The whale sharks don't visit every year and even when they
do, they don't stay long, so this is a unique and wonderful
opportunity to see the world's largest fish up close and personal.

UVERDE Rummage Sale November 17th to raise funds for our non profit
organization (location to be defined)
This is a great opportunity to clean out those closets and cabinets
and donate your "extra stuff" to be sold for a great cause!!!
Please drop off the "goods" at La Casa de Vos, in the reception area
for Vos en Construction.
UVERDE is dedicated to increasing awareness and helping our
community take care of our beautiful environment.
Current projects include:
1. "Clean up Los Barriles", this event takes place twice a year: Mid
November to show community spirit and prepare for the Fiestas de
Noviembre and again in April to celebrate Earth Day with the Rotary
Club
2. Local businesses and individuals "adopt" an area to maintain
litter free
3. Educational Programs in the local primary school. This year we
hope to add the secondary school as well as preparatoria. During the
2008-2009 school year a group of fifth graders produced the
following slogan: THE FUTURE OF THE WORLD IN YOUR HANDS; PUT TRASH
IN ITS PLACE!
4. Rotary Club has donated 260 canvas bags for us to take to the
primary school where the students will draw on them and take them to
their moms to use at the grocery store instead of the dreaded
plastic bolsas.
Upcoming projects include:
5. Cow & dog proof garbage cans
6. Recycling (Lynn Mirassou has come forward to organize this
program, we thank her for her energy and efforts to create this much
needed program)
7. Education regarding carpooling and driving less
8. Reforrestation
Ghandi said, “Be the change you wish to see in the world”. That is
what we are doing.
