We are sorry to tell you we have lost one of our La Capilla Members
in
September.
Bill Grubbs past away on September 24th after a summer of
illness.
Ruby asked me to let you all know, that he was ready to move on and
he
had many good memories of the times he spent with us all in the
Baja. It was
his favorite place to be.
She is returning this weekend with one of Bill's Sons and will
return
his Ashes to the Sea of Cortez, where he wanted to be. She is not
sure how
long she will be down this trip, but plans to stay at least through
Thanksgiving. For any one wishing to reach her, the number there is:
011-52-624-141-0610. Her California # is 909-915-4052. Her address
is 3734
Pacific #49, Highland, Ca. She also sends her thanks for her good
memories
of us all that will help see her through this time.

be entertained with live music for only ten dollars!! Proceeds will
help a large group of Catholic teenagers have a field trip to
Topolobampo later this year. Many of these kids have not been
further than La Paz from their home. The place, Palmas de Cortez,
Chacha is also helping, and the time 7:00 PM. There will be door
prizes and a good sane fun time for all. Tickets available at my
office. I hope to see many of you there! Gracias and thank God for
the two misses we had this season.

ARE YOU WORRIED ABOUT CRIME? Are you alone? I have the solution. No
training required, low maintenance and will make intruders think
twice before entering your yard.
Found nearly dead at the dump and rescued. Seven year old lab/rottweiler
mix. This dog looks totally menacing but is a total lover. She was
in my car the other day and I was in a restaurant having lunch and I
was watching people make a wide berth around my car and looking at
her like she was going to attack them any minute. The dog wasn't
doing anything. Just wagging her tail.
This dog is totally mellow, wags her tail all the time, loves
walking with you where ever you go, loves riding in the car, loves
people. I have taken her to the beach and walked, she has followed
my husband to the beach and just lays there while he is casting and
follows him in the yard and just lays down and watches while he digs
holes and works. Unfortunately she has had several litters and is
now badly scarred from the attack that almost killed her at the dump
and her looks are fading. The vet estimates about 7 years old. Her
beauty is mostly her personality and what cuteness she has left. I
do not want to take her back to the dump for fear of her being
attacked again. She doesn't deserve that. She listens to commands
and doesn't leave the yard even when the gate is open. I have my own
dogs that would like to eliminate her so I need to find her a home.
Maybe you know someone with a ranch and a big heart or someone who
needs a companion or would like a dog in the yard to discourage a
possible break in.

BAJA ONE
a. I am sure many have crossed more than I but here is what I know .
We cross at Tecate because we like the drive better. Less hassle and
more of a peaceful drive. You will see the office that stamps your
FM3 on the right as you cross the border before you get to the
booth. There is parking to your right just past the checkpoint hut,
and you can walk back up to the office. They have been very nice
every time we crossed.
We like to drive hard and make it in two days, so we spend the first
night in Guerro Negro at the Malarrimo Motel. They are very
reasonable and have a great restaurant.

If you don't want to drive that far, Baja Cactus in El Rosario has
great rates and nice rooms in the new section. Mama Espinosa's next
door has good food.
Next stop I know about is in Loreto. The Inn at Loreto bay is pricey
at 125.00/night but very very nice. Turn in at the arches just south
of town and follow the drive to the right all the way to the end.
I hope this helps, I am sure you will have many more replies.

RECYCLING UPDATE!
We have been working with Brenda and Moises Navarro from Navarros
Corp, who have been running a successful recycling program in the
San Jose/Los Cabos area, to expand to the East Cape. They are
offering to begin the program in Los Barriles on Tuesday, November
24, 2009. The planned pickup will be on every other Tuesday from
10AM to 1PM. We will be choosing a convenient place in town for
meeting up with the Navarros truck(s). For information, please visit
their website http://navarroscorp.blogspot.com:80/ and we will be
getting further clarification on just what sort of recycles they
will accept.
At the moment, we need to get an idea of how many people are
interesting in making this program a success in our area. There will
be a small donation expected to support this effort, somewhere
between 50-75 pesos per pickup. The more people participating, the
lower the cost. Additional donations are very welcome, and would
support the folks who may like to participate, but cannot afford to
pay.
If you plan to begin recycling with us on November 24, please send
me an email to let me know:
recyclebaja@live.com
Thanks and I hope we can all work together for a cleaner environment
and less waste to the landfills!
Lynn Mirassou
