Note:#1 Please, keep your notices short and to the point. The majority will not read long, laborious postings, so why do it? If your business or group has a website, use it! The BPE should be a 3-4 minute read especially since I am sending out 5-6 a week now. Help me to keep the BajaPonyExpress fresh and interesting so everyone will look forward to it and READ it. I realize there are a few instances where one paragraph (10 lines or so) won't cut it and that certainly is OK if the notice sticks to the facts and leaves out the adjectives. In the future, I will return rambling postings and ask that the writer do some editing. Motto #2: KISSS=KeeptItShorSweetSimple

Note#2: The banks will be closed Nov 2nd and Nov 16th. I don't know what Government offices will    be closed.  Maybe if someone has info they can post it.

Note#3: United States and Canada go off Day Light Saving Time tomorrow, Sunday, Nov. 1st.

Note#4: A great website for events La Paz is: http://www.rozinlapaz.com/rozinlapaz/Home.html

Note#5: Tonight's BPE, in my opinion, is perfect!  Cheryl

Dish Subscribers: Those with HD Receivers and have an account with All America Direct for Distant Networks, you will not be able to switch to the LA or Chicago High Definition programming. The satellite being used to transmit these channels is 110 and transponder 17. We are not able pull in 17 from Baja Sur even with an eight foot dish. I explained the problem to them and they are now aware of our problem, I suggested they put a note on the AAD website regarding the satellite necessary to have the HD service to save lots of needless phone calls from customers a bit South. We can hope they will sometime in the future be placed on a different satellite or transponder. The Satellite Guy.

My summer was one of bad news / good news. We traveled to Oregon in July, and I went to my regularly scheduled medical appointments, including a mammogram. The bad news was that the mammogram showed a questionable spot, and a subsequent mammogram and an ultrasound confirmed that there was a small lump that shouldn’t be there. What followed were various doctor appointments, a needle biopsy, a lumpectomy, and four weeks of radiation, which ended shortly before we returned to Baja this fall.

The good news was that our Bupa Medical Insurance, purchased through Char Wenger at AmeriMed here in Los Barriles, covered ALL charges except for the first $2000 deductible. We had purchased a Bupa Critical Care medical plan last December, and even though most of my medical providers had never heard of Bupa (the common comment when I turned over my card was “I’ve never seen this one before!”), Bupa came through in a timely manner. Since I figured that all of the procedures added up to around $35000, buying the policy was money well spent. Our policy, for both of us, cost just under $1800 for one year. I was also easily able to keep track of some of the claims on an online site, and could telephone whenever I had questions. You can be sure I’ve already renewed for next year!

This insurance can be issued to residents of Latin America who are at least 18 year old and not older than 74 years old, where the Insured resides the majority of any calendar or policy year; or where the Insured has resided more than one hundred eighty continuous days during any 365 days (6 months out of the year). Contact Char Wenger if you have more questions! cell 624-157-0081 or Retyer@aol.com
