I just received my 2010 stickers in the mail for my Mexico SUV,
California plates. A smog certificate was required, but I did not
send one. Instead, I sent the required form, California 256
available on-line, together with copies of both Mexico and American
insurance. I explained that the vehicle was over 1000 miles from the
border, was not likely to return to California and would be
immediately smogged should it be returned. I also gave them a copy
of my utility bill showing a Los Barriles address in our name. I did
not send a picture of the car being obviously in Mexico, as I did it
from the states, but that sounds like a good idea. I mailed the
whole works to DMV in Sacramento. Others have had mixed luck at
local offices. It seems the Mexico exception to the out-of-state
exemption is, by DMV regulation, intended to apply to border towns.

It looks like I have a house guest. Smallish cat, undetermined sex
perhaps female as my male hasn't started fight as yet. All black,
longer coat with green eyes
and starving! When I first saw her a week or so ago she looked
better. Clearly belonged to someone, purred when fed and quite
friendly. If no one claims her in few days I need to look to adopt
her out. She will be a great pet for some one! Gaar cell: 624 16

Burglaries
a. We had a break in at
our vacant vacation rental home behind Barrilito's restaurant, Casa
Huespedes. They broke into two rooms taking a small TV and VCR, a
microwave oven, a blender, one bicycle, two 25 gallon propane tanks,
and a few other items. The Police have been very nice to us and are
putting an effort into keeping an eye on the neighborhood. If you
have any info concerning any odd vehicles in that area this past
week please email me. Thank you.

It’s good to hear the roads are in good shape. What I haven’t read
is how the new border procedures are affecting people when they
cross into Baja. Are they searching more cars now? Is it still green
light-red light? (unsigned)

He is a 20 month old deer chihuahua. He has short black fur with
white markings. He's neutered, housebroken and UTD on all of his
shots. Harley is very sweet and likes to cuddle, but also has enough
energy to run with the big dogs! He comes with a crate that he
absolutely loves to curl up in.

IRS
a. At 10 AM today, myself
and my buddy Pete, met with IRS Criminal Investigator Cris Wajda in
Reno Nv. Neither Pete nor I have a Mex. Bank account and we both
have homes in lower Baja. Neither of us used our houses to generate
income. Cris was very helpful and honest. He informed us that we
need not do anything…..nothing. He also said that if you have a bank
account or have made money in Mexico that you need to file form TDF
90-22.1. He also said that there is plenty of confusion within all
the IRS offices. Yesterday I called this Don Nelson, Attorney from
Dana Point and his office informed me that I needed to fill out and
file form 3520, 3520a, and get a Federal I.D. # for my Fideio. His
office would do all of this for me for $900.00. This program is only
concerned with those who made $, or have a Mex. Bank account.
Michael
b. Dear Agent Arlette
Lee: Thank you for helping us in Baja California Sur, Mexico. I
understand Form TDF 90.22.1 is only to be used if foreign bank
accounts or financial accounts aggregate value at any time during a
year exceeded $10,000. This includes signature authority.
You also said you are awaiting clarification from headquarters if
one owns a home in Mexico under a fideocomiso trust if Form3520-A
needs to be filed. Definitely you said the form TDF 90.22.1 should
not be used to disclose or file for a fideocomiso.
We are all anxiously awaiting the IRS decision as our filing
deadline is 9-23-09 under the Voluntary Disclosure Q and A.
Would you please reply directly to bajaponyexpress3@gmail.com
<http://us.mc516.mail.yahoo.com/mc/compose?to=bajaponyexpress3@gmail.com>
, myself and others in Cc: above. Baja Pony Express (BPE) is a
wonderful email newsletter for our community. This is a widely read
email newsletter where we are able to post general information, ask
for airport rides, etc and I and others recently found the posting
re: IRS FormTDF 90.22.1 and property ownership in Mexico. Would
please expand ASAP on this form, or give the IRS references before
too many of us file incorrectly.
Then when you have the IRS decision on filing requirements for
fideocomiso trusts in Mexico also send that to BPE, etc. (unsigned)

Announcement from Char Wenger Amerimed Clinic / East Cape
Community Urgent Care Clinic, AC
A few weeks ago I sponsored a focus group with International
Community Foundation, who has
affiliation with AARP one of Medicares largest supplemental
programs. They are researching the benefits
of retiring abroad and would like additional feedback from our
community to assist in this research study.
If you would please read the following letter and show support by
taking the extra time
to fill out the questionnaire link below in hopes of pushing the
Medicare coverage outside the US.

My name is Paulina Aguilar and many of you might already know me
since I lived in LB for more than 10 years. I used to teach Spanish
to foreigners, but I am also a LICENSED TRANSLATOR. I am licensed
and qualified by the Mexican government to translate ANY and ALL
types of documents. Licensing is essential in Mexico because any
written document that might ever need legal consideration MUST be in
Spanish and if that document has been translated, it MUST bear the
government seal of the translator. Anything less may not receive
legal consideration.
You can send your documents to me at
spbaja@hotmail.com or
globaltmex@gmail.com.
My cost is $20 USD per page (legal size paper) and $15 USD per page
(letter size paper) and I guarantee my work to be 100% accurate. So
if you ever need documents to be translated, or need assistance with
documents written in Spanish, don’t hesitate to contact me!
b. I would like to
recommend the veterinary clinic in Las Cuevas. My husband and I took
our two dogs there to have them spayed. Emanuel and Gretal (a
husband and wife veterinary team) speak very good English. The
clinic was clean. The price was very reasonable and they are
available 24 hours a day 7 days a week if you have an
emergency(which for down here is really a BIG plus) Just call them
and they will meet you at the clinic anytime of day or night. Their
phone number is 624-129-5640 (a cell number). They are located just
south of Las Cuevas by the old concrete block factory on the west
side of the road. Lets give these new vets our business so that they
will continue to stay in our area. Debbie Taylor 141-0803
