Hi Folk- Doug and Citlali here. We just want to say a big "hola" to all our amigitos in BajaPonyLand and announce the birth of our daughter, Karen Melina. She is beautiful and brilliant, and ready for Barriles. Here's a link to our pictures.. See ya soon!                                http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=107227&id=58

Housesitters available- Citlali and Doug will be arriving in early
November and would like to find some housesitting / property
management opportunities. We each have 6 years in Barriles and are
fluent in Spanish and the way things work down there. As well as care
and maintenance in return for housing. we can also arrange any
projects you may need. I think we have a place starting at the end of
December, so if your plan is to come down for the holidays, we can
have your home clean and ready when you arrive! References available.

We have a small casita north of El Cardonal that is currently off grid solar power. I'm considering a grid tied system. Can someone please let me know if the power company has a minimum fee for a house that is sitting empty and pulling no power? I've heard that they don't "buyback" power for what my solar panels generate, but would like to at least cost out the minimum they charge for no power usage.

Am curious if anyone knows the road conditions from San Ignacio to Constitution via the Pacific coast road. Passable? 4WD? Thanks. bajaannie@gmail.com

I HAVE RECENTLY IMPORTED MY CAR AND NEED TO FIND A REPUTABLE MEXICAN INSURANCE COMPANY. MY PREVIOUS INSURANCE DOESN'T APPY ANYMORE DUE TO THE CHANGE OF VENUE. THANKS. onehtpny@aol.com

=============================

I have a rescued Kitty, first spied her around the 1st of the month and she looked pretty good at a distance. She came to my door a couple weeks ago and was starving. She does well w/ my dog and is very affectionate w/ me but she and my cat have not hit it off so she hides in the pantry. I think Roberto Gato is jealous of the attention she has required. So if her owners do not recognize her I need to find someone willing to adopt. She is smallish w/ medium length coat, all black and green eyes. I have had her to the ALMA vets to treat her for a urinary infection and she has one more trip there this week to confirm all is OK. She has no idea what a litter box is used for and I have had to put down newspapers in pantry which she understands. I guess that means she is indoor/outdoor but there may be hope re the litter box. She is very pretty and just a nice quiet, appreciative, pet that someone will love having. cell:624-16 15148 or gwedmd7360@earthlink.net

I have sourced Gutenberg and downloaded a bunch of "classics" into my PC but stall when trying to get into readers. Do you suppose you could contact me and perhaps help me work through this problem, trying to read on the PC is really more than I care to handle. Thanks cell:624-16 15148 or gwedmd7360@earthlink.net

NEWS FROM LA PAZ

a. BAJA DOGS LA PAZ:
Baja Dogs is a registered Mexican non-profit, and relies completely on private donations as we receive no government funding. Any donations of money, food, leashes, toys, crates and cleaning supplies are always welcome.

As of Sept 30, 2009 our pledges are up to $1615 US, which will now cover the wages and all related payroll and accountant fees that we are required to pay on a monthly basis. (It is not easy running a business or charity in Mexico). While we will continue to work diligently to reduce our costs, the $3000 per month goal is still something we would like to achieve as it will give us a small financial cushion for emergencies and allow us to acquire some other much-needed equipment, personnel and services for the refuge. Thanks to ALL who are supporting us on a monthly basis and making this all possible.

Baja Dogs La Paz AC has many homes waiting in Portland, Vancouver and Calgary. The only thing standing between one of these wonderful dogs and a loving home is some kind soul that will accompany the dog north. If you are able to help please contact us. I guarantee we will make it as easy as we can for you. All the dogs are healthy and have had all their vaccines. We will pay the transport charges and have someone meet you on departure and arrival. You will have made an incredible difference in the life of one of these precious animals. Please email dhorearyon@hotmail.com

Pease visit our website at www.bajadogshelplineoflapaz.org  for more information on dogs for adoption, or to make a donation via Paypal. If you require more photos of any particular dog or require additional information, please call 044 612 140 2575 (English), or 044 612 155 8948 (Spanish) between 10am and 5pm, or email us at info@bajadogshelplineoflapaz.org. We are located between Chametla and Centenario, 4 kilometers behind the Tecate Six store located on the curve. Signs reading BD will lead you to the refugio! We are open 11AM - 4PM daily.

Many thanks from the Baja Dogs and all of the Baja Dog support team!

b. Baja Dogs in La Paz needs your help. The Animal Rescue Site has set up a voting challenge with prizes totaling $100,000! The top shelter will win a $20,000 grant, and there are weekly prizes, too. Over 70 grants will be awarded in all.

Voting has already started, and will end at midnight (PST) on December 20th, 2009.

The more people we can rally to vote for Baja Dogs La Paz, the better our chances of winning. Every day, every vote counts, so please start today and vote every day until the contest ends.
