SCHOOL PROJECT - Would you like
to be a part of something really
big, for just a little money.
The school on the highway
(7,8,9th grade) near the Pemex
has been serving food
for lunch which we would
consider a "Cafeteria." They
currently use an old lean
to operation which is really
poor. Beto Cota from Baja
Properties has been
voted in this year as the
President and he really wants to
make some long term
improvements. Here's the deal...
The school would like to build a
permanent
structure which would take care
of the Cafeteria and an attached
storage area
for sports equipment and
maintenance items. What can you
do to help... Jose Luis
just North of El Barralitos will
sell cement blocks 15 for 10
dollars or 150
blocks for 100 dollars or any
amount you can give. He will
save the receipts
for Beto and when they are ready
to be moved, Be\to will have
them moved. Please
consider being a part of this.
For the rest of your time in Los
Barriles you
will be able to drive by and see
what you were a part of. We are
buying the
first 100 blocks and we just
hope you will help with the

a. To renew your FM documents
when you are not in Mexico,
contact the nearest Mexican
Consulate.
b. Is there a concrete boat
launch in the Los Barriles area?
Yes and no. When I first came
down here in the 70's Chuy
Valdez at Spa Buena Vista (the
name then, now Buena Vista Beach
Resort) said there was one, but
it was buried by sand. Now, I'm
guessing it's either WAY buried
or disappeared. I've never seen
one in 40 years. The nearest one
that I'm aware of for public use
is in Bahia Muertos (Muertos
Bay) out by Punta Arena, where
the Giggling Marline used to be
(now changed ownership). They
charge a fee, but it's a really
great launch ramp, protected
from the north wind and looks to
be able to launch most any size
boat. Otherwise, you need to
rent a tractor to launch your
boat at one of the resorts.
There are some others now in the
works at the various marinas
that are being proposed around
the East Cape, but they aren't
