We have received some very good news from the Policia
Ministerial. Recently a well known couple in our town
foiled a robbery in progress. This was in Hermosa Vista
north of town. Because the would-be robbers had to flee
quickly, a car was left behind. This allowed the police
investigators to track down someone who they believe has
been the main bad guy around here. The investigation is
still in it's infancy. We have found the Policia
Ministerial to be very helpful. They have come by to keep us
informed as we are one of the homes that was recently
robbed. The person they have arrested is not from the Los
Barriles area. Let's continue to keep vigilant in these
rather challenging times. Many thanks to our neighborly
heroes and to the investigators who are working to stop this

UPS DISCUSSION
a. I had a good experience with the UPS here in Los
Barriles. Just before heading south to Los Barriles December
4th, I sent myself a professional paraffin bath piece of
equipment plus the wax for my Reflexlogy business here in
Los Barriles, via the UPS in town and UPS Sedona, AZ. I had
a girlfriend go to UPS Los Barriles and find out how to send
myself this piece of equipment. Franci's office gave my
friend an address which was in La Paz, (now you can mail
directly to Los Barriles). I was to put my name and Franci's
name and address in LP, on the package. From the UPS in the
US I got a tracking number. When I arrived to Los Barriles
the package followed me by one day, December 8th; I gave the
tracking number to an employee of Rochin and paid their fee
of a about $8, and $35 pesos to the UPS in La Paz, and got
my equipment for my Reflexology Clinic. Total cost from
Sedona to Los Barriles was about $195USD. And I mailed it
the day before I left the US and it arrived a day after I
arrived, perfect timing! A bit expensive, but could not fit
the equipment and the wax in my truck for travel. So, a

LUNAR ECLIPSE CHATTER
a. LUNAR ECLIPSE: For the first time in many years, northern
winter is beginning with a total lunar eclipse. On Dec. 21,
2010, the date of the northern winter solstice, the full
Moon will pass through Earth's shadow, turning the lunar orb
a delightful shade of coppery-red. Sky watchers in North
America are favored with an overhead view as the eclipse
unfolds on Tuesday morning between 02:41 am and 03:53 am
EST.
The eclipse begins on Tuesday morning, Dec. 21st, at 1:33 am
EST
(Monday, Dec. 20th, at 10:33 pm PST). At that time, Earth's
shadow will
appear as a dark-red bite at the edge of the lunar disk. It
takes about
an hour for the "bite" to expand and swallow the entire
Moon. Totality
commences at 02:41 am EST (11:41 pm PST) and lasts for 72
minutes.

THUMBS UP!
a. We left our truck at Anchor Storage yesterday and in the
search for the correct road in ran over something that that
flattened one of the tires. As it happens we were almost
there, so drove in on the flat. I thought it was repairable
so left some money for the repair. The following is an email
I received this morning.
We had the tire mechanic check your tire and it was totally
damaged beyond repair. It had a rupture of 4 inches wide
approx.
So we tried to change your tire to the spare one that you
have in the truck, but unfortunately you don’t have the rod
to lower the spare tire, just the adaptor but no rod.
Since mechanic charges $150 pesos just for coming here, and
considering that you live in Los Barriles, I made an
executive decision and negotiated a second hand tire for
your truck for $350 pesos. Total cost of repair $500 pesos.
