having world champion windsurfer Matt Pritchard on board for a week
He is arriving tomorrow and will start his week seminar, including
private and group instruction on Sunday and we still have room for 4
people ,so if you have any interest come over to the hotel to ask

FYI--Policia, orange cones near Pemex on highway to la Paz
We were stopped last night by the police (???? or police
imposters???) near the Pemex station on the highway after dinner at
the Cactus restaurant in Los Barriles. We had just had dinner and
the four of us each had ONE beer. Unfortunately, there was an empty
bottle in our car, so the police assumed that we had drunk a LOT and
that the driver, my husband, would have to go to la Paz for a
breathalyzer test! Of course we were a bit startled and perhaps a
little panicked, but my friend had the foresight to say, "Get on
your cell and call our attorney. Once they heard the word "abogado",
they said, "No problem" and let us go. We think that these guys were
not really police. It was dark, they had flashlights and we could
not see the labels on the trucks. Just a heads up! And lesson
learned: don't leave empties in your car!!!! Or offer money????

killed in La Paz or near La Paz last Tuesday and there are "road

I believe the idea of only being allowed 8 oz. of liquid in checked
luggage is rumor. I just flew home one week ago with a fifth of
cognac and a 33 oz. bottle of a non alcoholic liquid in my checked
luggage and had no problem at all.

Dear Parents: Baja Shakespeare is looking for kids of all ages to
act in the upcoming production "The Knight of the Mighty Rod". The
dates of the 4 shows are: Opening Night Thursday March 18, Friday
19th, Saturday 20th and Closing Night Sunday March 21st, at Rancho
Buena Vista. There will be minimal rehearsals as well, for the
several very funny scenes, beginning after March 6th. No experience

IN MEMORY of SUSIE RYAN
She passed quietly Wed Night at the side of her Mom. She was
preceded by our favorite little pal APOLLO only 96 hrs before her.
He choose to go before her and await her arrival. He since has told
me they were in a warm, sunny place where they could Trikke and swim
to their hearts content. I'm so Happy for them!
They are survived by Ella; Apollo's soul mate and me Tio Von Ermoyan,
Susie's soul mate. We are at peace with their passing and very very
grateful for the 9 years of joy we were allowed to share with them.
I am happy to announce that we are forming a committee to set up a
foundation to honor Tia Susie and her great love for the kids here
in the Baja. To this end we endeavor to set up a program that will
teach all her little Delefincitos how to swim. Susie discovered an
incredable fact that 90 % of the local kids DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SWIM
!
In Susie's memory we will change all that. Two of her friends have
agreed to help make this happen. They are Clarence from the
Smokehouse and Julio Montano, the Mayor of La Ribera. We invite any
and all of you who would like to join us and see this happen to
honor such a wonderful woman who loved the Baja so much. You can

Back again this year offering Tours to Magdalena Bay. The gray
whales have arrived at the town of Lopez Mateos. Our trips will
begin on February 1 and run until March 30. Trips will be
leaving/returning from Los Barriles as follows:
Feb 10th returns Feb 11th
Feb 15th returns Feb 16th
Feb 19th returns Feb 20th
Feb 23rd returns Feb 24th
Feb 27th returns Feb 28th
The trip includes round trip to Lopez Mateos. Two hour trip whale
watching after arrival, breakfast, lunch, dinner and cabanas for one
night. The next day we offer breakfast and 2 more hours of whale
watching before heading back to Los Barriles. We stop in La Paz for
lunch (cost of the lunch is not included).
We'll also be offering one day trips this year. They leave at 5AM
from Los Barriles and will return about 8PM the same day. The price
for this trip is only $120 per person, but doesn't include meals
etc.
Minimum 6 people need for the trip. Contact me if you would like to
make the trip. We can work together to fill the trip and days are
flexible.
