Thank you so much for the information on Dra. Yahri the
Dermatologist up in La Paz. And I understand her address is The
Maria Luisa de la Pena Iglesias Hospital that is between Altamirano
and Ramirez. What's the fastest easiest way to get there? I've got
an appointment and a map, and know La Paz a bit, but sure would
appreciate some directions? Thanks.

Now you can get the local wind and weather real time in Los
Barriles. Actaully the weather station is in the Spa Buena Vista on
the beach. Of course this can only be used by kiteboarders for real
time wind reports as windsurfers and other grommies will have to
continue to use the forecast module at
www.iwindsurf.com. Here
is the link for the current weather and some cool graphs if you
click some of the options at the bottom of the webpage.

Canadian Dollars
a. As a Canadian who has been coming to Baja for many years, we
always use our Canadian bank ATM cards to get pesos from Baja bank
ATMs or Canadian bank credit cards to get cash from ATMs or for
purchases in Baja. Don't bring Canadian cash.
If you change your Canadian cash into US cash beforehand in Canada,
you will end up losing money twice on the conversion from CAD to USD
then pesos. There are ATM's at the Los Cabos & La Paz airports.
Roberta
b. We've been coming to Mexico from Canada for a couple of decades.
We used to have to fumble with travellers cheques and US$ cash,
paying twice to exchange into pesos, or else we bought our pesos
directly from our bank in Canada at a high exchange rate. In recent
years we haven't bothered with US cash since ATM's are so plentiful,
and credit cards are more accepted. We don't like carrying a lot of
cash anyway. ATM and Cdn VISA exchange rates are very good, and the
withdrawal fee (for my Royal Bank VIP card) is 7.50pesos ($.60CDN).
All the big department stores in Los Cabos (including Costco), and
the major stores in Los Barriles accept credit cards.
PS. Since we always pay in pesos, we tend to avoid many places that
quote their prices in US$, unless they quote their exchange rate up
front. (A few places try to make an extra 5 - 15% on the exchange.)
Generally we get a better deal in pesos.
Al
c. Many stores don't accept credit or bank cards, only cash, so I've
found it easiest to just go to the ATM machines with my bank card
from a Canadian bank and withdraw cash. If you exchange Canadian
dollars for US dollars, then have to exchange US dollars for pesos,
you may be paying a lot of unnecessary service charges.

There is a wonderful family who desperately needs some financial
help to return to their family on Mainland. Alfredo and Rosa have 3
adorable children, ages 1,4 and 6. This morning they were told they
needed to move from where they had been living. Alfredo is a very
hard worker but now that there is not as much work in Baja it seems
they would be better off returning to their own family. We are
hoping to raise enough money to send them home. If you can help with
any amount, please email us and we will come pick up your
contribution. Thank you!!!!!!!!
