For all the friends of Mark Wolling (aka "Big Wally"), the world famous Jackson Hole ski patroller, adventurer, extreme daredevil, and great pal to many who was killed in an avalanche a few days ago, we'll be holding a memorial service this Wednesday Jan 13th at 5 PM on the beach at the end of the road across from Restaurant Otra Vez. All who knew and loved Big Wally are invited to come and show their respect, tell stories, or share memories. "Since Big Wally was a drinkin' man, be sure to bring your own booze and mug for toasting purposes...we'll supply ice."

Does anyone know what the odd jelly like substance is in the ocean?
They are rectangular in shape and clear and have a black seed like pod inside.
They don't seem to sting but they move along in a swim like fashion.
Their were millions of them today.

I am coming down for the first time for 3 months!! I called Verizon Wireless today and they said they had a Nationwide + Mexico plan that would be a great deal for me. I would also like to be able to use it as I drive down too. The question is, is there Verizon wireless coverage in the La Paz, Cabo and Los Barriles area? Verizon says yes, but I don't remember having coverage in the past. Could anyone who has Verizon Wireless and has used it please send me a note and let me know about the coverage. Do you get incoming calls and are you able to make out going calls.

Luscia, the dog that has been on the beach near Mar y Sol is a very loving and mannerly dog. I've been happy to have her on the beach, especially when my kids are playing on the beach without me. She loves them and is very protective. Anyway, I was sorry to see when I came, this week, that she has injured her leg over the summer and is very thin. We've been feeding her. But, we leave, today and won't be back until mid February. She's a light brown pit bull type dog and likes to chase 4 wheelers. It's her back right leg that is injured. She is wearing a collar, this year. What I've been told in the past is that she belongs to a Mexican family, but lots of people feed and love her. The thinness might be caused by a parasite. I worked on her leg a bit. It doesn't appear to be a fresh injury. I'm just hoping that someone will give her some attention and food while we're away. She's a loving dog and doesn't pester you once you've given her food. She just shows back up wondering if you'll give her, more. Last night, while I was playing the guitar, late, she would wait until between the songs and then would very quietly whine at the door. She doesn't come in the house unless you invite her in, which I never do. And she has very grateful eyes. I think that she's feeling the economic crunch like many of us and has fewer kind souls on the beach to feed her. I'd be happy to trade care or pay for some dogwood, if someone would take her into their heart until we're back. If no one knows that she has been seen by a vet, I'd be happy to pay that, as well. If someone has already begun to love her, please let me know, so we won't fret. My daughter is very worried about her. drmary@drmary.net

Have you been told you need someone to pay these bills? You can if you want, though this is not necessary if you want to pay them yourself.

To pay the water bill, first take something along to identify your lote. Go to the delagacion where you pay local taxes. Continue right on past the post office and into the next room.
Show them the lot identification and ask to pay ano water bill. Get a receipt!

To pay your CFE, (Sayfey), bill you must go to San Jose del Cabo. Coming from Los Barriles, go to the first traffic circle then look for Mission San Javier St. Turn right and go one block. You will see the electrical towers and the CFE office will be on the left. If you miss this, take the next street to the right. Sorry but I did not get the name. The street is cobblestone. Again go one block. Turn right. The office is on the right at the end of the block. If you missed both streets, continue on to the retorno exit and come back. This will give you another chance at both streets. Get in the line that goes to the left and the payment windows. You will need a copy of your electrical bill. Paula speaks very good English. Tell her you want to pay uno, or more, ano bill. We were in line about 20-30 minutes. They will send you a monthly e-mail telling what the bill was and what is left in your credit account. Well worth the time and can be scheduled with a trip for other business in San Jose. And you can do it just as well as someone you're paying to do it!
