If the cash machines do not dispense money when you think they
should, check your bank account. It has deducted money twice in one
day from my account without dispensing pesos. Both times the funds
were deducted from my US account.
The banks explanation is that it should automatically be corrected
within a few days. I filed a dispute with my US bank just to be
safe.

DISCUSSION: PAYING BILLS
a. Does anyone know if there is someone hosting a book club this
winter in Los Barriles? And is there a way to pay your taxes and get
a receipt in La Paz County (for property located in Los Barriles)?
Email: thomwdavis@gmail.com
b. Regarding paying your bills, you can register your Electrical
service (numero de servicio - at the top left on your bill) with CFE
on line www.cfe.gob.mx and
pay every month on line.
You only need to go to San Jose if you want to pay in advance (pagar
anticipo) Or you can pay in the bank or at the telegraph office in
Buena Vista by the police station. Here in La Ribera we can also pay
at a grocery store. Inge

Our community of so very fortunate to have the Amigos Veterinary
Clinic at North Beach.
ALMA Humanitaria, A.C. , although independent of the clinic, works
closely with them.
Each week there is laundry that need to be done at the clinic. It is
picked up each Fri. by a volunteer who takes it home washes it and
returns it to the clinic Monday morning. Is there some one who has a
used washing machine that they are will donate to the clinic? It
would be so useful and very much appreciated!!
If you have a washing machine to donate or would volunteer to pick
up and do the laundry on one Fri. afternoon a month until a washer
is obtained please call Sheila P. at 141-0267.
There is approximately three loads each week that need to be washed,
dried, folded and returned on Monday morning.

SHARE YOUR ANSWERS
a. As I have had several emails wanting to know what I learned, so I
thought I would share what I found out about Cell phone service in
the Baja.
Verizon Cell Service in the Baja
• Verizon only works in La Paz and Cabo as far north as the airport.
There is no coverage traveling down the Baja, some by Tijuana. It
would work if you stay in those areas. One person said that Verizon
said there was not coverage because the technology of Telcel is old
and not compatible. I was also told that you can call on your Skype
phone to your cell phone and retrieve your messages. The Nationwide
+ Mexico would cost me about $20.00 extra per month for 2 phones, so
it was not expensive. Just not useful for me in Los Barriles.
• ATT has coverage in Los Barriles which is good, but it can be
expensive, especially if you don’t have the extended Mexico coverage
(not sure of the name). They do have pay as you go phones. I have
not researched about the ATT phones or costs.
• Skype was suggested as a good phone option, but you need to have
internet service. It is a free service according to the site.
• Telcel (which I have) is a good cell phone option for calling
locally or for emergencies. But, the down side is the phone messages
are in Spanish (so you might need someone to translate) and you have
to add minutes every 3 months (at least) or it will go inactive and
you will lose your number and minutes. I have problems with losing
my number and minutes as getting minutes in Los Barriles has been a
problem. I have had to leave the phone with someone and have them
add $100 paso every 3 months....what a pain. They do have great
coverage around the Baja. I would not use it to call the States as
it will be expensive. Phones are pay as you go. There is no where in
the states to get Telcel minutes that I have found.
Hope this helps someone else out too. Thank you to everyone for
providing me with the information!!
Chris
b. More Phone Talk: My regular Candian GSM cellphone works fine in
Mexico (Rogers & ATT have a deal with Mextel) but the roaming and
per minute charges are exhorbitant. I leave it on in case my broker
or a family member calls. I have another unlocked GSM phone that I
use for local calls with Telcel's pay-as -you-go Amigo service that
works out great. I bought the sim card at Soriana Dept store in San
Jose, and get it topped up at the farmacia at Chapitos in Los
Barriles, or you can do it on line. For calls back to Canada we use
Skype from my laptop. Skype out to a regular phone is $.14/min.
There are several wireless internet locations in LB. Here is the
link to Telcel in english.

Hope this helps

The whole body is represented in the feet. Your feet represent the
water energy, which goes
deep and seeks out the foundation of things. The feet are the most
negative pole of the entire
body and because of this fact many negative energy blocks are found
in the feet. The pain
and discomfort in these areas could be manifesting or warnings of
chronic health conditions.
By stimulating and reflexing certain points on your feet and hands
the body can be restored to its
natural healthy state.
