Note:
I'm caught in the middle. There is an email that most of you have
received about a home invasion and robbery in Buena Vista in the
early morning of Thursday, July 15th. Since I know nothing other
than what's in the email I cannot make a comment on the BPE because
it was not written by the victims. It is my understanding, that
physically they are OK. Cheryl

Thanks to Char and Amerimed for doing just the right thing for me
when I had a recent medical emergency. The doctors are wonderful in
Los Barriles, San Jose and Cabo. The equipment is up to date and
able to perform procedures that might be done in the US. I feel
fortunate to have made the decision not to rush back to the States.

a. There are multiple problems in receiving US network channels in
the Baja from Dish network.
All but a few cities are broadcast on "spot beams" which means they
can only be received within about a 150 mile radius around Portland,
Seattle, San Diego or whatever your home city is.
There are a few exceptions. New York is broadcast country wide, but
you need a New York address to subscribe. There is also an East/West
package available that will give you NY and San Francisco, but you
need to prove you have the units in an RV and need this service
because you are on the move.
Chicago, Denver, Chicago HD and Los Angeles HD are also broadcast
nation wide, but the footprint of the 110 satellite doesn't reach us
in southern Baja so they are not available.
The best solution for US networks is a subscription to Canadian Shaw
Starchoice. It offers Detroit or Buffalo from the East and Seattle
or Spokane in the West. Keep your eyes on the BPE and occasionally
you will find someone with an extra receiver offering it for rental
