In the very early morning hour of 1:00 a.m. on Thurs., July l5th, we
were assaulted and robbed at (flare) gun point, in our home. Woody
went out to investigate noise on the driveway.. There were two men,
each with a toddler in tow, asking for help. Woody went out to the
driveway, and was attacked and forced back into the house. The two
men (20-30 yrs. old) grabbed me, tied us up with electrical wire and
duct tape, and gagged us. They held the gun to my head and demanded
money. They took our money, my jewelry, wallets, purses, and
computer. We were roughed up, Woody was stabbed a couple of times
with a screwdriver. They loaded personal items--address books,
purses, costume jewelry, onto the bed and rolled it all up into the
bedspread and took off
We had been awakened from sound sleep, and our guards were
completely down. The dogs did their jobs beautifully, alerting us to
intruders. In retrospect, we, at that point, should have done
everything in our power to stop their advance. No one is up to any
good at that time of night, regardless of their sob story.
I just wanted to remind everyone out there to ratchet up your
self-preservation instincts, staying alert and vigilant, and Do Not
Let Anyone approach you--day or nite--if you don't know them, and
they have come onto your property.
Many thanks to all of our friends out there who have expressed great
concern for us. We are all right--mad, now, more than anything. Love
to you all and stay alert!!! Donna and Woody

I just drove thru Constitution on the 20th with no problems. I
always take the first left or right @ the new center road go up
until you hit another paved road L or R and take it all the way thru
town and bypass any troubles. Tim

BEWARE! Yesterday at the newer gas station in Los Barriles the
attendant tried to rip me off. When I handed him a 500 peso bill his
co worker distracted me then he slipped the 500 peso bill in his
pocket and pulled out a 50 peso bill and acted like I made a mistake
and asked for more money. This con game just about always happens at
most of the gas stations on the way to Cabo but this is the first
time in Los Barriles for me. I usually tip the attendants but not
any longer. I will go to the other station in town in the future.

DIESEL
a. I have been driving down the Baja now for four years in my 2006
Chevy Duramax pickup and have always used the Mexican Diesel without
any problems. Yes, if you have a 2007 and newer diesel, you are NOT
to use Mexican fuel. I am talking about GM only as I know nothing
about Ford, Dodge or other diesel vehicles, but 2006 and older
Chevy's are just fine with Mexican fuel. Capt. Blakos

Also just FYI
Living in California, we have our smog every 2 years. So with my
Toyota being permanently in Cabo, I had heard you could fill out a
statement of facts for the DMV to forego the smog.
Well this past week I went to the DMV with the statement of facts
filled out, and just for good measure I took pics of the car at the
bodega and my mexican insurance.
They didn't even want to see the pics or anything, just took the
statement, the renewal payment, and gave me my sticker. Wala, that
made my day.
b. Wanted: two 'tame' female kittens.
Will give them a loving home.
