Many of you may know that medical specialists travel to small villages in Baja from time to time to offer their services to those who have difficulty traveling to the major cities. Two doctors from San Jose plan to set up shop here in La Ribera for the next two Saturdays at the Jorper Laboratory across the street from the old Casa de Salud.

One doctor is an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and the other is a Hearing Aid specialist. They will be open June 12th from noon to 6:PM. For more information please call 624 141 9215 or 624 117 2221.
Examinations are 600 pesos.

Dog Sitter
Hello! I'm still looking for some kind person to take me in for the summer months of July, Aug, Sept. I am an older dog so I really don't need too much. If you walk with me in the morning, I'll sit and watch tv with you in the
evening. Noooo, no, I won't get on your furniture, nor do I want to sleep with you in your bed. I like my space so no snuggling for me! Just want to sit close by you on the floor. In the morning I will come and lick your hand softly to give you a clue to let me out. I'll be gone for ohhhh, 20 minutes, but will come right back for breakfast!

I have 3 very sweet long hair 8 month old cats, two beautiful calcos and one tiger stripped tuxedo, he looks like a raccoon. The calco's are females and the tuxedo is a male. All are super sweet. We brought them down from the states and they really deserve a loving home, each of them. They stay outside and live on the porch and behind the house, we live in Agua DeLaCosta. I have their mother who is a beautiful longhair calco, also super sweet, and I had a bengal. They do not come in the house but they want to, and the bengal got eaten a day ago by some wild cats or something outside, I need desperately homes for the three lovely 8 month old cats before they become food. C TOWN

a. We rolled into Constitution at noon Saturday, June 5, 2010. We made it to the northern side of town before the cops pulled out of a side street and kicked on their lights. Fully paranoid, we'd followed all of the suggestions from other BPE posts. Our lucky stroke was that the Pemex station was just ahead. When we chose to swing in there, the cops chickened out. The Pemex guy was fully aware of the shakedowns and confirmed they are just going after gringos. His insight: "it's only money they want." No kidding!? Make'em do their dirty deed in as public a place as possible, apparently they do have shame. reeseanddieter

b. We are the ones that paid 800 pesos at the Police station. We were offered to settle it on the street for less, and get on our way. After being pulled over for being guilty of being Gringo, where not to impressed with the local cops. And to reward their behavior by Tipping them was not something we want to do every time we go thur C town. Our feeling is that paying at the station will take the profit out of pulling Gringos over. Why would they pull you over if you didn't put money in their pocket? Hopefully more of us Gringos will help take the profit motive out of the shakedown. Pay at the station and get a receipt . There were some very uncomfortable cops after we demanded a receipt and insisted on paying at the caja. We hope others will just take the time to make it hard for them to profit for being Crooks. Eight of us took a sunset cruise on La Patrona. The cruise was donated to Rotary, for their Mothers's Day Auction by Rampage Sportsfishing Charters and Water Sports. Their Captain and deckhand were very hospitable. The muchies were great, more than we could eat. We had a fun cruise. Annette

c. Question About Real Estate Sales And The IETU Tax - Can anyone help answer a question about how the new Mexican IETU tax, passed 2 years ago, is affecting sales of real property? We were told that you cannot deduct the cost you paid for the property from the sales price, and that you have to pay the IETU tax calculated on the entire amount of the sale, treated as 100% capital gains.
If so, this would mean that you could sell a piece of property for what you paid for it and be liable for a heavy tax on the entire amount. This can't be correct, can it???
