There must be something in the air. Recently, I have received three different emails claiming there are unscrupulous people and/or businesses among us. I have always hedged on printing negative stories mainly because how can I ever know the real truth? It's the old "He said, she said syndrome" and then everyone wants a piece of the action and waaaalaaa the BPE has turned into a whining blog. For the time being I am not going to print these complaints. I need to come up with a solution that is fair so in the mean time, ask for a recommendation for a business or service on the BPE and I'm sure if there are dissatisfied customers out there you'll hear from them as well as the all good stuff. If I have received a complaint about a business, I will not do further advertising in the BPE until the problem is resolved.
I am open for suggestions. Cheryl  (Whew!! It really is 1:45am and I'm off to bed)

And.........I will be at Roadrunner today, Thursday 10am to 2pm selling BajaHaHa Golf/Dinner tickets. I will NOT be there on Friday as previously reported or call Margy 142-8014 or Cheryl 141-0308 for tickets. BPE#772 & #763.

Good morning, just to let the readers know, the Grey Whales here at Mag Bay, have pretty much left, there are a few groups spread out the Bay. They seem to have arrived later and left earlier, less whales this year, El nino? global warming? Also lots of renewed talk about making parts of Mag Bay a National Marine Reserve, quite a few NGOs ard NPOs aliening themselves with the powers to be. Interesting to say the least. stevenprichter@gmail.com

We have friends driving down next week, and the wife is fearful of
driving, due to Dateline and the news media saying Americans are not safe
driving in to Mexico. Any opinions to confirm her fears, or encouragement
for the drive. I have seen nothing posted that would lead me to believe
there are great risks. Diane wrig@bctonline.com

FM3 and other 2010 changes

Mexico’s National Migration Institute published its Manual of Criteria and Migration Procedures. The Manual will be enforced as of 5/1/10 throughout the 32 delegations of the National Migration Institute in Mexico. Courtesy of AILA member Enrique Arellano.

http://www.visalawyerblog.com/2010/02/san_diego_immigration_attorney_23.html

• In the following weeks, the National Migration Institute will publish the formats of
the new migration cards that will replace the FM2 and FM3 booklets. Changes of
activity, domicile, marital status, etc. will no longer have to be annotated on the
migratory document, thereby allowing the foreign national the ability to travel in
and out of the country while a change of status/conditions application is in process
without having to request an exit and re-entry permit;

• Consular Posts will no longer issue FM2 or FM3 booklets. Instead, the Consular
Post will place a visa sticker on the foreign national’s passport, upon receipt of the
petition’s approval from the National Migration institute. The sticker will allow
entry into Mexico within 365 days of issuance. Upon entry, the foreign national
must obtain the new FM2 or FM3 migration card within 30 days.

PANGA IN LA RIBERA

a. Re the "whale ramming"
Last Saturday while heading out to fish off the light house we were involved in a boating accident. Captain Pedro was on the controls of his super panga with 150 hp, running about 3/4 throttle, the sea was calm and fairly flat. About a mile off Playa colorada we struck something below the surface. The impact was severe, launching the panga about 2 mts.out of the water, then crashing to a full stop on its return. Both we 2 passengers and the captain were thrown to the deck, launched in the air then hit the deck a second time. Pedro regained control and we headed back, with him calling in for assistance. At no time, before or after did we see a whale. On later examination of the hull we found only a little paint missing. The general consensus was it probably was a whale shark swimming just below the surface. I would like to thank those who assisted us, Pedro for getting us back, friends on shore, the La Ribera ambulance for a quick response and a short ride, Dr.Leopoldo for sewing up my son's head (he's gone home to work, but the old man is still sore, soliciting sympathy,) and and a special thanks to Lupe Diaz for building boats that don't break in half, so we get to go again. .............Cliff

WARNING--Mexicana Airlines is double charging for tickets, then claiming it will take up to a month to get a refund...then it never comes. A month ago, we charged one airline ticket, and noticed the next day they had charged us twice. We called immediately, and the agent told us to wait two weeks, and if it didn't show up, to call back. No confirmation number given or anything. Now it's been a month, and still no refund. We called again, and were given an email address for customer service that DIDN'T WORK. When we went on line, we found that there are dozens of exactly the same situations, and tons of complaints. Some have waited 90 days, and still no refund. It appears this is purposeful, and the only thing we can guess is that they are going out of business and trying to grab as much money as they can. We have no reason to say this, other than the fact that our case is not the only one--there are DOZENS on line. I don't know what to say about bypassing this problem, as you are in there hands when you give them your credit card information. BE AWARE AND BE ADVISED: Mexicana Airlines is DOUBLE CHARGING for tickets. Bill and Shelley
