Fourth grader, Regina L. Hernandez, (Heidi's classmate) was taken out of Tae Kwon Do because her scholarship money ended and her family can't afford the monthly fee. She is a very talented and hard working student with a great attitude. She made it to Blue Belt. Her mom said she was going to sell her uniform and equipment, but Regina begged her not to. She said she knows she will be able to go back some day. If there is anyone who would be willing or able to pay her monthly fees, please talk to Veronica at the studio, or you can e-mail me and I will answer questions the best I can. (The family will pay for the exams). The monthly cost is 550 pesos. If you pay for 3 months in advance, the fourth month is free. NEWS FROM TODOS SANTOS

a. Our final "Meet the Artist" session for this season is tomorrow (Thursday) at 5:30 at Cafelix. Homero Chairez, self-taught wood carver will present his work and his philosophy of art and its relationship to people in our second bi-lingual presentation of the season. Homero's work can be seen at his shop in Plaza Los Faroles and his workshop in the rear of the Hotel California Emporium. The new chairman of ARTS, Diane Knight, will also briefly outline the change and plans for ARTS and season three starting in November. Also, Tony Gould will give a short presentation on the grotto project at the church. Come early and get your drinks and treats from Cafelix and then enjoy an hour of art with the Artists of Todos Santos' season finale.

After the article in the Gringo Gazette about one woman's walk from Rancho San Dionysio to the west side of the Sierra de la Laguna, I thought I'd ask Ponyland for experiences with the 3 different routes and contact information for particular guides they like. Also, has anyone ever DRIVEN via the Ramal de los Naranjos route? What was THAT like?

ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS

a. There are lots of companies that can and will sell you daily and monthly Mexican insurance policies, but in my experience buying a year policy from Vagabundos has been cheaper than paying the rates for even a few months from other insurance companies, so make sure you get a quote from them to work from. b. Go to www.MexicanAutoInsurance.com  The company is Lewis and Lewis. We have dealt with them since 1990 and find them very reasonable and easy to deal with and you can do it online. We even had a claim that was settled very easily about 10 years ago.

c. Registration of cell in San Jose at main Telcel office on HWY 1 south of Sorianano's about a mile - on the right hand side as heading south - was easy. They are all set up for this process. Took 5 minutes around noon. They copied passport and programmed registration into cell. Courteous and professional.

d. Awhile back I asked for recommendations for attorneys who handle remanifestations from people who completed these successfully; several people wrote to ask me to share what I learned. At the end of the day, several people made generic recommendations to reputable attorneys from La Paz to Cabo San Lucas. Only one family could say they had direct experience and completed their remanifestations quickly and efficiently; they used Daniel Urrea with Lex Advisors in San Jose (624-14-25453).
