Dish Network Changes - Dish Network announced this last Thursday that it would remove The Weather Channel from its lineup in what appears to be a rate dispute. Instead, Dish Network said it would air its own new weather-focused channel, called The Weather Cast, that will offer more local-weather updates. The Weather Cast went live Thursday afternoon on channel 213.

Dish Network held off dropping the channel immediately, as the two sides continued negotiating Friday, though an agreement on fees has yet to be reached. If you want The Weather Channel to stay on Dish Network, you can call Dish at 1-800-823-4929.

In other news, Dish Network moved a number of of their channels to a newer satellite intended to replace their main satellite at 119°. You may notice that some channels have moved, or may be missing altogether. Specifically, we received reports that 208 CNBC, 205 Fox News, 180 ABCFM, 173 DISW, 162 VH1 may be missing, or have moved.

We were initially concerned that we might lose signal on many channels from this transition, but so far it appears that the signal is actually stronger from the new satellite. This means you may see fewer problems with lost signal on smaller dishes or when it's cloudy or raining.

I'd be interested in hearing from Dish Network subscribers around the peninsula about any channel or signal changes they might notice on their systems as Dish Network continues its transition to the new satellite.
