in La Paz personally.
Preparations Complete for Festival Nov. 28
La Paz will experience many opportunities in the coming
Second Annual Festival d’Artes to be held at the Marina
Palmira on Sunday Nov. 28. With many well known artists
participating, holiday shoppers will find gift ideas to fit
any budget and well as a selection of creative ideas to
compliment homes a-board or on land.
The theme, “Celebrate” encompasses a variety of expressions.
Theater arts with performances of Ballet Folklorico as well
as individual musicians and singers. This year the festival
will be graced with the lovely soprano voice of our own
Pasena, Samantha Rae, who has sung throughout Mexico &
elsewhere with opera companies and solo concerts.
Se Habla La Paz will provide a booth to evaluate your
Spanish Language Arts with fun exercises. The festival will
be a bi-lingual event and another element features special
projects for children. The Children’s Creative Experience
Booth organized by Ginger Simpson will give kids fantasy
‘tatoos’ face painting, and even a bit of hands on
experiences with various media. If you can give Ginger and
her team a hand for an hour or so, please email her at
Radish12@hotmail.com
. Jorge Arguel, owner of THE ART SHOP of La Paz has donated
papers, tempra paint. However, if you happen to have extra
art supplies to donate, check with Ginger or the website
www.festivaldearte.com and sign up. Both English
and Spanish speakers are welcome.
Food & drink concessions will help fund the various
charities supported by the Non Profit Festival.

SHOPPERS CORNER
Additional info to what Cheryl provided: Jim and I went to
Aramburo's in Cabo for the first time in ages and found all
sorts of American goodies---seasonings, cans of soup
(Progresso) that we hadn't seen here in a long time. We went
in to wander around and had to go back for a basket.
To the person looking for an electric stove: try the GE
store in Cabo, across from Home Depot. You can get anything
you want there. Chris White

QUESTIONS
a. Does anyone know if we need a notarized letter of
permission from the lien
holder on our car to get an Auto Permit in Mexico? We are
going through
Nogales, AZ border to the ferry to La Paz then on to Los
Barriles.
If you have gotten one, how do you describe it to the lien
holder - the bank
holding the note? They didn't know what we were talking
about.

b. Where to stay around Mulege or San Ignacio
I am driving down from San Diego and want to make a big push
my first day. Any suggestions on where to stay that is
secure. Just me and my loaded rig! Thanks!
schuylerbr@gmail.com
c. After twenty years of not driving in Baja my wife and I
are going to drive from Florence Oregon to Loreto Baja Sur
during the last few
days of January 2011. We will be staying in Loreto and the
surrounding area for two months. From 2-1-11, to 4-1-11,we
are renting a house in Loreto.
We will be driving a 1999 Honda CRV which is in new
mechanical condition. I have in line gas filters, but am
confused as to what is the best gas additive?
Please give me your suggestion and why your idea is best. We
also want to fish light tackle for food and fun. Any
suggestions what equipment I should take.
Would also like to do some free diving if the water is not
to cold. What is your suggestion as to best free diving
locations and what we may find.
At my advanced age safety is on my forehead.
I have searched the internet for Mexican insurance and found
that most companies are close in cost and coverage. What is
your choice for best policy and coverage.
Would really appreciate your input. Anything you can suggest
to help an old fart and is child bride get up to speed in
again traveling in Baja will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely
Larry and Jacquie
