NOTE: COMPLETE CALENDAR AT THE END
OF THIS BPE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Friday noon there was an accident at the public fountain at
the entrance to town. Rotarian Eldon Hathaway was cleaning
the pool with an extended aluminum pool when he accidentally
bushed the high tension CFE line over the pool. Needless to
say, it was a major shock.
Eldon was rushed to the Amerimed hospital in San Jose
suffering from major 3rd degree burns on his right arm and
hand as well as his big toes on both feet. His vital signs
are good and he should be home in a couple of days;
although, he will have a long recuperation time. Eldon would
like all his friends to know that it takes more than a
little high tension jolt to put this "old bird" down.
Jesus is the reason! Come celebrate the great news! Is
Christmas in your heart?
We invite you to bring your friends and neighbors and join
us in a relaxed early Christmas celebration. Come and share
music and laughter and the joy of the season.
Please bring finger food to share to the home of Carlee
and Spence (La Curva, Casa Vieja) on Friday, December 3 from
A new Evening Yoga Class will begin Tuesday December 7th
"all levels" class. Please bring your own mat, if you have
one....wear comfy clothing and please have an empty
stomach...
This class is a bit longer than the ones in the morning
"restorative poses"....very relaxing.....If you have
questions, email me at
Amigos....We hope you've all got the 2nd Annual Local
Artists Show on your calendars for Sunday, December 12
sponsored by the Asociacion de Artes. This Holiday event
will be at the Colina del Sol Club House from 9am to 3pm. We
have some of the most talented artists around right here in
East Cape and they'll all be there to show and sell their
art. We'll have Mexican food, refrescos and even Beer and
Wine for sale. Oh yes....and a raffle with artistic prizes.
The entrance to Colina del Sol is located north of the two
arroyos and just west of the paved "road to nowhere".
There's a big Colina del Sol sign on the right hand side of
the road pointing to the entrance. Once you're inside we'll
have lots of signs directing you to the Club House. One more
thing...we'd appreciate it if you would leave your dogs at
home. If you have any questions about this event email
either Kathy Obenshain at
kaojaa@gmail.com or Elizabeth Perkins at
edesignsbaja@aol.com
. See you on Sunday, December 12th....JoAnn
This article was in the LPG (LaPazGringos)
the news on "el peninsular" today about animal welfare law
Here's the link for you to see it. Here's the rough
translation.
la Ley de Posesión y Protección de los Animales en BCS
(the law of possession and protection of animals in BCS) has
been aproved. Only one representative objected and opposed
because she believes it wont be implemented since it doesn't
represent the reality of many "sudcas". This law says that
all house dogs must have a collar and get medical care.
Still the law was approved by the rest of the
representatives. The Vet Bertha Haro was present, as she's
been the main force behind this initiative as the president
of the colegio de veterinarios, along with some vet students
from UABCS. They all celebrated the approval. They assure
that once dogs are healthier, it'll stop diseases that
affect everyone and are transmitted by sick dogs.
Now, with this law, the new requirements to get a pet
will be implemented once it's published in the diario
oficial.
ROAD
REPORTS
a. Crossed at Tecate on Sunday morn Nov 14th with 4
pickups/campers...no hassles. About 20 miles of pretty bad
road south of Tecate on Hwy 3 but no crews working and no
hassles. About 5 miles of rough road south of Ensenada but
no hassles. Stayed in San Quintin at the beautiful (and
inexpensive) Hotel El Jardines south of town and liked it so
much we stayed for 3 days...met and partied with Guillermo
the owner...what a cool guy and alone worth a visit. The
rest of the trip south we bumped into the Baja 1000 folks
all the way to La Paz (watched some of the race while in
Loreto). Again, no hassles even thru Ciudad Constitucion
where we only saw 2 cops...stayed on the lateral thru town
and made sure to stop at every stop sign and wore seat
belts. All in all a very leisurely and pleasant 6 day
journey to Los Barriles...glad to be back at our "other
home".
QUESTIONS
a. Does anyone have any great shell beaches that they go to?
I would love to find some, please let me know and directions
would be helpful.
bertandmichelle@yahoo.com
b. Can anyone recommend a tile store in La Paz, with a good
selection of floor tile, that employs a person who speaks
English? Would appreciate a store name and the street.
Thanks, Elsa
elsa1599@yahoo.com
c. We had to leave Mexico with a permission letter because
of the delay in processing our FM 3 renewals. It gives us 60
days (rather than the old allowance of 90 days) to get back,
but it dawns on me that the immigration office will be
closed for the Christmas and New Year holidays. Does anyone
know exactly when immigration closes and reopens? I have
heard that they may close as early as December 17th and not
reopen until January 5th !!! That would be almost 3 weeks.
We must make our airplane reservations to get down there in
time to pick up our paperwork, but don't want to be there
during the closure dates ! Thanks so much to Ponyland for an
answer. You can post on the Pony or to us directly at
talmontpeople@aol.com
or
pattidowden@gmail.com . Thanks again. Patti
a. BAJA FOOT REFLEXOLOGY returns to the Los Barriles area
once again, this will be our 8th season to therapeutically
massage your feet and make you world just a little bit
healthier. Like rejuvenating your body, mind and spirit
through your feet.
Tune into your inner healer with a relaxing and healing
foot reflexology. The whole body is represented in the feet,
hands and ears, more beneficial on the feet. The feet
represent the water energy, which goes deep and seeks out
the foundation of things. The feet are the most negative
pole of the entire body and because of this fact many
negative energy blocks are found in the feet. The pain and
discomfort in these areas can be manifesting or warning of
chronic health conditions. Sensitivity and pain on the feet
may be reflections of chronic conditions in corresponding
areas of the body. By stimulating and massaging certain
reflex points on your feet, the body can be restored to its
natural healthy state.
Rejuvenate, heal and enjoy your reflexology treatment
in the peace and quiet by the beautiful Sea of Cortez. $30
for 30 minutes for those of you who are curious about
Reflexology. $45 for one full hour treatment. Taking
appointments for late December and into the New Year 2011
treaturfeet@yahoo.com
or after December 11th, call Sylvia, Certified Reflexologist
for an appointment, 14-10332
