Does anyone in Los Barriles care to come fish Lopez? I have property
available in Lopez Mateos. Living in Loreto, many from our community
fish Lopez, several with second homes. It's close & different.
Fishermen in Los Barriles, not much further, likely would enjoy
Lopez similarly. Any fishermen from Los Barriles are welcome to stay
free at my place in Lopez getting to know it, talking with locals &
fishing both mangroves & the Pacific. Please see

b. Regarding the Otay border crossing, has anyone driven it from the
north lately down to the toll road? I crossed there going north via
the Ensenada toll road last spring on the Road 2000 and would like
to use that route again but am not sure if it's in good condition
and would like some directions going south so I can pass it on to
friends. I heard that the earthquake last year caused some damage.
We stayed at the Hotel Lausana, just a few blocks west on the MX
side and would recommend it to anyone, it's really nice on US
standards and safe..see
www.hotel-lausana.com . Thanks for the info,

ANSWERS TO
QUESTIONS
a. Regarding Dini Jaskowski's question about the HughesNet HN9000
satellite Internet system working in Santa Rosalia - Sorry, this
system won't work outside the US because it has an HN9000 modem.
Only the HughesNet 6000 and 7000 series modems work here in BCS. The
9000 modems use a different frequency and satellite visible only in
the US. These 9000-based systems are also very sensitive to where
they're located, and cannot be moved even a few miles without losing
satellite lock.

b. RE: Pointing Your Dish at Dish Network's satellite at 129°
Regarding Mary Fedorka's
question about moving her dish from Dish Network's 61.5° Satellite
(BPE #893), most likely you have an East Coast service address with
Dish Network so they think you may be receiving the 61.5° satellite.
This might be correct for a Dish Network system installed on the
East Coast of the US where you can pick up multiple satellites with
a single small dish, but it doesn't apply to a system located in
Baja California Sur. From here, you would need an awfully large dish
to pick up that satellite so it's very unlikely you have that
satellite now.
From our location in Baja
California Sur, there are two main Dish Network satellites
available, the main satellite at 119° carrying the bulk of Dish
Network's standard-definition channels, and another satellite at
129° carrying high definition channels. If you're receiving high
definition channels in Buena Vista now, then you must already have a
two-dish system installed with one of your dishes pointed at the
129° satellite. If you only have one dish, then it's already pointed
at the 119° satellite, not the one at 61.5°.
Don't worry about it. If
Dish Network calls again, tell them "a friend already pointed you
onto the 129° satellite." :)
