I am writing to let you know that a scammer tried a similar scam on us last month. I have my rentals advertised online at http://www.casabaja.com  and a potential guest called to say he was interested in reserving our home in September, I let him know the dates were open but he never confirmed or sent a deposit. Then last month Angelita called to say the guest had said he was in Cabo airport and tried to collect $20,000 pesos from her with the same story about bringing too much cash into Los Cabos airport and that he needed money to pay the fine. She caught on right away when she noticed the phone number was not a Cabo number, and told him she could not help him "good bye". Same line about brining in too much money and such, all of the info he was using to contact us was from our vacation rentals website, though he could have found us on VRBO or Facebook first, it was not a VRBO generated inquiry. This is the second scam in 20 years we have encountered of this nature, the first one was through VRBO and I reported it to them, it does happen to regular people scammers are out there in force! Be Careful. Lisa Jayne

One of our readers has done his homework. If you think you have been stopped for a traffic violation that you feel was less than warranted, send a report to: ACSTijuana@state.gov  This is the American Citizen Svcs, US Consulate Tijuana
They will want details such as date, location, circumstances, badge number, name of the officer, license number of police car-if possible. Obviously, the more info the better. Cheryl

News from Todos Santos
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Visions Galeria in Todos Santos Changes Format…plus more ARTS changes
Diane Knight, newly elected chairperson, of the Artists of Todos Santos (ARTS) has
announced a number of changes for the 2010/2011 season. The most visible change is
that the popular gallery at Cafelix Coffee & Kitchen is no longer a cooperative gallery
but, has become a true community gallery. Each show offered this season will be open to
all artists in the region. The gallery committee has also promised that two of the shows
will contain both pieces for sale by those with the proper legal documentation to sell and
a clearly marked category of pieces “not for sale” for those who merely wish to exhibit
their work to gauge public opinion and acceptance.
Further changes include greater public outreach into the community with public art
projects, children’s art projects and more events open to the general art-loving members
of the community and their visitors. The exhibitions scheduled for the season include
a children’s art exhibit celebrating two hundred years of Mexican independence and
one hundred years since the Mexican Revolution; a repeat of the popular Holiday Small
Works Show and Sale; the 2nd Annual Juried Photography Show with two distinguished
judges, one from the United States and one from Canada. And, there’s a new show
featuring the artists who will be participating in the second annual Todos Santos Artists’
Studio Tour.
Ms. Knight also announced that the popular “Meet the Artists” series of gallery talks will
resume in December. ARTS is also looking for volunteers to help run projects and assist
with our various activities. You do not have to be an artist to volunteer.
ARTS is an informal group of artists and art lovers dedicated to the development and
support of a vibrant visual arts community and to inspire and grow visual arts talent in
Todos Santos. For more information or to contact ARTS please go to our website at

ROAD REPORTS

a. We drove down Mex 3 from Tecate on Sunday. It is under construction from the south end of town until the big sign that says “Thank you for visiting the wine route”. The detours are unpaved. We were in a pickup and not towing anything, so it wasn’t too bad. The few big rigs on the road could only travel at a snail’s pace. I would imagine the there are more big rigs on weekdays, so it will be even slower going. There is another long section of construction from south of Ensenada to just before San Tomas. No getting around that one. ~Julie

b. We did the south of Ensenada Hwy 1 today, slow going but the road is kind of OK. Also ran into LB neighbors at El Jardines who drove the Tecate, Hwy 3. They were pulling trailers and said the road was horrible. They said Ensenada south Hwy1 was much better than Hwy3. Cheryl
