ALERT! - CHILD ABDUCTION IN LA PAZ
On Thursday October.14,2010 at around 4PM, an 8 yr. Lisset was kidnapped in the Camino Real neighborhood of La Paz. They last saw her at the OXXO at the entrance when she had called her mother to say that someone was following her, and that was the last that was heard. If anyone has seen her or heard anything about her whereabouts please call 066 as soon as possible. Lets try and get this little girl home.
DESCRIPTION:
She was last wearing her school uniform: white shirt, green skirt and pink tennis shoes. she has brown straight hair that comes to her shoulders and fair skin.

I have just received instructions from the Director of Finance in the Municipal Govt. office in La Paz, Lic. Hassan Medina Perez, that to be eligible for the Senior discount on property taxes you must take a copy of your Senior card plus voters Id card in order to qualify. In other words you must be a Citizen of Mexico and prove it with your voters Id.

For those who may not know, Magicjack is $20 per year. Plug it into computer it installs itself.(once removed you must pug it in and reboot). Choose any area code as home you will get a number...then anyone, friends and family can call you from that area code FREE, no matter where you are on-line and of course you can call all long distance free. You will need a conventional old phone to plug into other end of magicjack. Although I have not used it yet there is an answering system built in. And since this is the unschooled talking to the untrained, if you have Skype on your computer it is cool to forward your calls to your Mexican cell. Super cool to get family emergency call in the car at the far end of the Arroyo instantly and free.

Mexico Celebrates 1810, 1910 And 2010 Art Show - In 2010, Mexico has two celebrations: The first one is the Bicentennial, 200 years from the Independence in 1810 and the second one is the Centennial, 100 years from the Mexican Revolution in 1910. ARTS (Artists of Todos Santos) has planned a celebratory and educational community historic event about Mexico’s Bicentennial of the Independence and the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution. This event is in association with the children’s Art Group from the Palapa Society and the children from Escuela Pacifica. The children from these two groups will create drawings or paintings of the well known heroes of both historic events. This represents the opportunity for the children to learn about the history of their country and feel the pride in their ancestors.

The Mexico Celebrates 1810, 1910 and 2010 Show opens on Thursday, November 11th with a reception from 5:30 to 8:30 pm at Visions Gallery, located at Cafelix Coffee & Kitchen. Those attending the opening reception will be asked to select their favorite pieces. The winners of the “People’s Choice Awards” will be enlarged, printed as banners and hung in downtown Todos Santos. The show will hang from November 11th until November 26th. QUESTIONS

a. Saw the conversation about paying property taxes on line for La Paz/La Ventana. I've asked this question before with no reply. So, I'll try one more time. Can you pay property taxes on line for Los Barriles? Does anyone know? Post your answer on the BPE for all to see.

b. As we prepare for our return to Los Barriles by air with our 2 pooches, we remember someone wrote in about having dog treats confiscated at the SJD airport. We have always brought Costco's chicken jerky treats down for Jack and Molly to enjoy and have not had a problem. We have been questioned whether they were beef or chicken, and with our answer being pollo....we have been allowed to bring them in. Has this changed? According to the web sites on MX importation, packaged meat products other than pork are OK. We hate to waste the space, weight and cost if they are just going to take them away.
