Just wanted to drop a message, this is Rick & Julie Marks. As many
of you may have heard we were forced to make a trip to the VA
Hospital this last week due to some chronic issues concerning Rick’s
health. The first thing that needs to be said is that Los Barriles
is truly a great place to live and to have friends. Everyone has
been so supportive and we just wanted to say Thank You so much.
Specifically to those that took the time to pray in a time that
looked fairly hopeless. Because of those prayers we were allowed to
get our eyes off the circumstances and on to how this would all be
worked out. So many spiritual things happened on our trip that you
would need to come by to hear how doors were opened and closed at
the appropriate times. Thanks again to everyone.
As far as the health issue, it is chronic and we have given all the
effort we can to stabilize the condition as is, without having to do
any type of major surgery, etc.
Looks like that has run it’s course and we will be having monumental
tasks laid out in front of us, some issues concerning coordination,
some issues concerning timing, and some issues concerning finances.
Please try to remember us in your prayers as we muscle through this
event. Looking forward to how God will unfold this. He is mighty
while we are small. Anyway, we are back in great spirits and looking
forward to our future and being with the people of Los Barriles.

Regarding the Magic Jack phone device. You can also hook it up to a
wireless phone and you'll receive your voice message on the email
account you set up when getting the device. It's works well. Works
with any PC and on the newer Macs with the Intel chip. May i
suggest, if you get one, go for at least a two year contract if not
the full five years. You tend to forget when you order it and you
will be cut-off if you don't re-up before the exp. date.

through the San Jose office I would assume the answer is "yes." If
you search LaPazGringos on the Yahoo group look for the thread on
paying taxes on line. I would rather not post the guy's name, as I
don't know if that's kosher. I can tell you that the government tax

presentations to offer the foreigner a background and overview of
the States of Mexico
Nov 2nd DÍA DE LOS MUERTOS, one of our favorite presentations
featuring an altar here in the school with descriptions of the
representative symbols, the specially made bread & hot chocolate and
later, a trip to the nearby cemetery accompanied by Se Habla La Paz

"Dia de los Muertos" Cultural Presentation
Se Habla...La Paz Spanish language school invites you to a special
presentation Monday, November 2, 1:15 on the cultural significance
of "Dia
de los Muertos" ("Day of the Dead"). This is one of the most
important
traditional holidays in the Mexican culture.
This 1 hour presentation is in easy Spanish with handouts, a snack
of
traditional food and a typical altar in the entrance of the school.
After the presentation, we will go to Panteon San Juan, the oldest
and
largest cemetery in La Paz, to see the activities of Mexican
families in
remembrance of their departed, with Se Habla instructors, to further
explain
the customs.
For those without transportation, a van will be provided by ESPIRITU
& BAJA
TOURS COMPANY for the trip to the cemetery. (close to the school)

ROAD REPORTS
a. Had an uneventful drive to Mulege except for the already reported
construction.
Passed the roadwork between San Ignacio and Santa Rosalia on a
Sunday. Nobody was working and all the trucks were either parked or
gone for the day. I recommend Sunday for that stretch.
Mulege is nice and uncrowded. Life here is good..
