Note#1:  It's time for me to start my TenPeso campaign for the East Cape Guild Scholarship Fund. The Sky Tonight (Wed, 11/30): Venus, the current evening "star" in the west is the brightest natural object in the evening sky for a few more nights. However, at 6:55:14 pm tonight, Irridium satellite #67 will provide one of the brightest "flares" of the year, 30 times as bright as the planet Venus and lasting up to 10 seconds. To spot this flare go outside a few minutes before 6:55:14pm and find the area of the sky over the center of Isla Cerralvo in the northeast. The flare will occur about 50 degrees above the horizon or some 40 degrees above Cerralvo mountain peaks. Your fist, thumb on top, held at arm's length measures approximately 10 degrees. For observers in the Los Barriles region, Irridium satellite #72 will provide an equally bright flare on Thursday night, December 1 at 6:48:58 pm in the same direction (NE) and altitude above the horizon. e.  Restaurant Aguas Termales, in the Sierra La Laguna National Park, in the village of el Chorro, is reopening this Friday, Dec 2nd and will be open every day from 10 am to 9pm. The owners, Lupe and Olga, invite you to taste the traditional Ranchero food of Baja Sudcalifornia, all organic and from local sources. For breakfast they offer machaca, beans, eggs to your taste, ranch cheese, chilaquiles, quesadillas, and more. For lunch and dinner their offerings include tacos, birria, salad, and other authentic ranchero dishes. Most dishes are cooked on traditional wood-burning stove and oven and accompanied by handmade tortillas . Drinks include coffee as well as teas made with local herbs including lemon grass, jamaica and mint.
The restaurant is 200 meters from the natural hot springs, and a series of beautiful pools and canyons that lead into pristine wilderness. Guides are available for hikers. They also offer comfortable rustic cabins for overnight accommodation. To get there, go through Santiago, past the zoo, 10 km, though Agua Caliente to el Chorro, though the park gate and turn left. f.  The Crossroads Country Club, on the East Cape Road in Vinorama, now celebrates it’s 9th season We are open 7 days a week from 9 AM to 9PM. That’s all day, breakfast, lunch and dinner.
