Baja Skies Tonight (for Thursday, Nov. 8) via the
VentanaView
If skies over the southern third of Cerralvo are clear tonight at
6:15:23 pm you should be able to see a very bright Irridium flare,
about 30 times as bright as the planet Venus setting in the west at
the same time. It will be high in the sky, about 2/3 of the way to
the zenith, the point directly overhead. Los Barriles will have an
even brighter flare on Friday evening at 6:09:08 pm in the same
direction, NE, and high in the sky. Check back Friday for
information of Saturday's total eclipse of the moon along with a
morning pass of the Internationl Space Station and a double flare in
the evening low in the west.

THUMBS UP: Two workers ---brothers ---Arturo and Victor Sandoval.
These guys can do anything. They are perfectionists, fast, honest
and priced reasonably. Wish I had known of them 10 years ago. They
worked for Valentin for 12 years. I had them repair my palapa,
install new netting, fix a settling crack, paint, pave the driveway
and repair cracks in my concrete sidewalk. Cell phones: Arturo -

ROAD REPORT
a.
A trip across the mountain to Todos Santos yesterday. As we are
driving along this wonderful road, its bumpy and you can't go very
fast but its wide and there has been work done. As we crest the hill
and our first view of the Pacific Ocean awes us, I make the comment
about how this is not even an adventure the road is so good....
Well shut my mouth, as we go around a corner we see a
bulldozer on the road as it curves below us and we go, "ah that is
why the road is so good". We get to the bulldozer and have to stop
as he has the road all churned up and piles of dirt closes the road.
He finally sees us, as he is very loud and facing away from us. He
pushes the dirt around a bit and lets us pass. From then on for the
next 5 miles the road is nasty. We are driving a Honda CRV, which is
an all wheel small car, and fortunately with a high clearance. It is
a road with lots of wash outs and we carefully steer through this
obstacle course. WHEW the adventure begins. Finally we get through
it and then the road opens up to a wonderful road where we can
travel at 40 miles per hour to the Cabo/Todo Santos Hghwy. So for
those of adventurous spirits make sure you have 4 hours and a high
clearance on your vehicle before taking the Naranja Road. (The
Naranja Road is just a bit north of SanJosedelCabo Airport. There
used to be a sign that said Naranja but it's no longer there.
There is a sign now when you're heading south and it says
"Rastro Tif 3.2km")

Author C.E. Llewellyn has a limited supply of his
newly released book, "Birds We See in Baja California Sur, Mexico
that wll be available at the Asociación de Artes
Fair in Colina del Sol on December 11. This book is a photographic
journey of the Birds We See in the estuaries, arroyos and seashores
of Los Cabos and the
East Cape region of Baja. It contains more than 185 original
photographs of some of the many birds that live here or stop over
during annual migrations. The book will make an excellent Christmas
gift for that special someone, young, old, female or male.
