Another Email Phishing Scam - This one is targeted at stealing Email addresses and passwords from HughesNet users:

Subject: Important Information Concerning HughesNet WebMail

Dear HughesNet User,

your two incoming mails were placed on pending status due to the recent upgrade to our database,

In order to recieve the messages Click here.to login and wait for responds from HughesNet.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.

Regards, HughesNet.
--------------------------------------
The phony link leads to some clueless person's hacked web site at: http://bingyang.com/books/extras/taxes/webmail/hughes-webmail/HughesNet%20Webmail.php (page content has since changed). Notice that, although the scammer inserted the word "hughes" in a couple of places to try and disguise the phony link, the .com part of the link is "bingyang.com," not "HughesNet.com."

Again, look closely for the spelling, capitalization and punctuation errors. There are at least six, and they're a dead giveaway this is a scam. Companies like HughesNet, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, Facebook, your bank, etc., will never send you such Emails. - Alan, alan@BajaSatellite.com, Todos Santos

ROAD REPORTS

Courtesy of Ventana.View@gmail.com  -  Our neighbors to the north

Regarding Border wait times.    People should be aware even Otay Mesa and Tecate can have long border wait times.   I have been sitting in a endless row at Tecate before for 1.5 hours.   I have never seen the main TJ crossing (san Ysidro)  to be shorter than Otay Mesa, and have checked the DHS website many times over the years.  Just looked at 9:15 pm tonight, and as listed San Yisdro, 1.7 hours, Tecate 40 minutes, Otay Mesa 50 minutes.  I have had this site link listed since 2009, at www.la-ventana.info  then ::Mexico::travel::by Land::border crossing info DHS current wait times.       If you have a wireless card or internet phone, just check online before you decide which you are going to take.    The McDonalds by the walmart in Ensenada has free wi-fi if you are ready for a break before you move on.    dean

Smokey’s Grill & Cantina invites one and all to get your Irish on this St. Patrick’s Day! We’ll be partying all day with great food & drink specials & plenty of green beer & jello shots. Be sure and try an “Irish Car Bomb” too.  We’ll be serving hearty Rosemary Beef Stew with salad & hot bread all day starting at 11:00 a.m. Also on special are grilled Johnsonville Beer Brats and Jumbo Chili-Cheese Dogs served with Fries & Coleslaw. FYI, Beer Brats and Chili-Cheese Dogs were invented in Ireland a few hundred years ago . . . . it’s true, look it up. We know the fries came from the French, not sure about the coleslaw.

Also, once again we will host “Crazy Tie Night” but this year, we are also introducing “Crazy Hat Night” for the gals with prizes being awarded to winners in a number of different categories that we will make up as we go.

Better Still, Get your dance on with Live Reggae-Style Music & Fire Dancing performed by Bahia Beat! (You may have seen them perform during the Lord of the Wind Festival with all the drums). Show starts at 7:00 p.m. (no cover).

And if none of that interests you, please join us for “Smokey’s Chicken Crap Contest”. Buy squares on one of our huge boards for $50 pesos. We’ll have two rounds and the first square that “Smokeydoodledoo” or “Smokehorn Leghorn” craps on takes the dough. (We promise that no chickens will be harmed during this contest).

Hope you find your backside at Smokey’s this St. Paddy’s Day!
