Baja Shakespeare would like to thank our "Friends of
Shakespeare" for supporting the Student Preview Performance
that was held Wednesday March 23. Over 100 students from 4
schools enjoyed our adapted version of Pericles. We would
like to thank the men of Rotary for cooking and serving
lunch for the students following the performance. We would
like to thank the Guild for being our liason with CECYT, the
Santiago High School. What a great community we live in!!
Thank you!!!

Shrek is searching for a new Kingdom. Everyone local
knows my famous dog Shrek and he needs to return to the East
Cape from El Triunfo ... as his reign is over in the
mountains.
Shrek is a bit of an ogre but he is good company and a
fabulous protector and loves the beach. He doesn't
wander or cause caos ... those are vicious rumors ... he
just prefers law and order in his yard. Shrek is 7 years
old and slowing down a step ... and his weight is a proud 85
pounds ... but he is still quite handsome. Shrek is
perfect for a person with a need to please and a fenced
yard. His current master will pay for his food and
visit often.
If qualified ... contact Link at
cabolink@yahoo.com or call 624-1824068 ... or call Rumi
in Spa for a preview at 624-1550964.

The Ooma Voip (internet phone) is being offered by Woot.com
for $100 off the standard price. This is for free phone
calls for life! You need either a DSL line or Cable
internet. I have one and it works just fine down here. You
can take it back and forth. Note: It may not work as well
on a shared internet service. Shared Systems consume too
much bandwidth. Magic Jack requires your computer to be on,
Ooma plugs directly into the modem. Computer not require,
only the modem/router.

WARNING!!! Beware of... ATM in ENSENADA
I just received this email for the Anglers of our Fishing
club:
"""Dear Vags - Just a warning to everyone. I used the Ban-
comer ATM in the Wal-Mart shopping center in Ensena-
da on Dec. 26. When I got home I found someone had
been making purchases using my debit card number
and PIN. When I used the ATM nothing seemed out of
the ordinary. I didn't leave or lose my card. But during
my bank's investigation they found both the card num-
ber and PIN were used. Don't use the Bancomer ATM
by Wal-Mart in Ensenadal The Seapeople. """

Below is a lengthy bit of information about Mexican
Insurance. I'm sure this will warrant a Medical Insurance
discussion for the next few of days. Cheryl
GOT THIS ON THE BAJA WESTERN ONION NEWSLETTER ON LINE. VERY
INTERESTING. I AM CHECKING IT OUT. unsigned
Subject: MEXICAN HEALTH INSURANCE INFO - FROM SHARON
Re: Seguros Popular Insurance: I'm no expert but here goes.
You need:
1) your CURP - I guess it is like a social insurance number.
This is a separate process - Gina will help you get one if
you don't have one.
2) copy of the electrical bill
3) your FM-3
4) it covers everything - all tests, pap, prostate,
mammogram, etc and everything in between including drugs.
5) Yes it costs about $1300 pesos per person. Max and I paid
$2,730 pesos for the two of us for 1 year.
6) Here is what I do. I go to see Dr. Tuckmann. He has a
private practice AND works out of the New Salvateria
Hospital. I pay his fee (nominal) and he has the option of
sending me to a private lab (if I am in a hurry for the
results) or to the New Salvateria Hospital. You might have
to wait in line, get an appointment for a test and then get
the results a couple of weeks later. BUT for $1,300 pesos
per year I'm not complaining.
A friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. She opted to have
the lump removed by private surgery and it was done within 2
days of the diagnosis. Her monthly medication, $500 USD per
month, is free with her Seguro Popular insurance at the New
Salvateria Hospital.
7) I don't know if the booklet is available on line. It is
my understanding that it covers everything AND if they (New
Salvateria Hospital ) can't do it here in La Paz, I believe
they send you to wherever you can get the treatment you
need.
8) Where to apply. You might want to have your friend
contact Gina Ireton (demila_sope@yahoo.com).
She is really the local expert and the "arranger" for the
coverage. She may be on holidays for Xmas. She has a fee for
your CURP and another fee for " arranging" for your Seguro
Popular.
9) We just renewed our policy and gladly paid her fee to
avoid any anxiety associated with the process. We are good
for another year.
Here is the PDF version of the Seguro Popular booklet which
outlines who is eligible and what it covers:
http://www.seguro-popular.gob.mx/images/contenidos/Afiliacion/sp_carta_derechos_obligaciones_formato_lectura.pdf.
It is in Spanish and taken from the government website. Hope
this helps. - Luiza

Re: Seguros Popular Insurance: I have had Inbursa heath
insurance for many years both my self and my daughter have
policies my daughter used to be covered under mine before
she went out on her own. It is good coverage but not sure
about any of the questions you asked. Their main office is
located on the Malecon in the same block as Migracion. it is
a upstairs my insurance agent who is solely an Inbursa agent
is Lupita her office is on Belesario Dominguez (her daughter
works there with her now and speaks English) We have only
paid one co-pay in all the years we have had the insurance
And we have needed it I have to go see her soon this coming
week. Will see if she can give a information sheet to me
sidne saludos from la Paz - sidne byars herrero
---------------------------------
Re: Seguros Popular Insurance: Sidne and all, Inbursa moved
a few months ago. They're now in new offices on Bravo, on
the "mountain" side of Isobel la Católica across from the
hospital. I don't have the exact address, but it's not far
past Chedraui. You have to go around since Bravo is one-way
coming toward the bay. I discovered this when I went to pay
my car insurance and found the old Malecon office deserted!
- makaloco
---------------------------------
Re: Seguros Popular Insurance: Well thanks for that bit of
news but Lupita the insurance agent is still on Belisario
Dominguez turn off 5th de Febrero left it is the office on
the left either in the first block or second block He
daughter does speak English and the finance person in the
office also speaks good English for anyone that needs
explanation of policies availably - sidne byars herrero

Exvotes(Retablos)and other Paintings
by
Seddon Wylde
I will be showing my new Exvoto Paintings at the Arts Festival
in Los Barriles on April 3rd.
This Mexican Folk Art is a tradition of giving thanks to
someone (usually a Saint) for a miracle (milagro).
My theme this year is animals! For example, the Rooster tells
the hen they must give thanks to the Virgin of Guadalupe for the
miracle that the farmer is a vegetarian. This painting is sold but
come see
what the cow, the dove, the whale and the goat have to be thankful
for!
I will also be showing my small watercolours and some paintings
by Jeff Heintzman.
