       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I would like to use this paper to let people know of the demise of a long time resident here in Los Barriles. David Goodman who lived adjacent to the cemetery was discovered last Friday by the Municipal Police who had received a report from some distant neighbors of a strong odor around his property. They entered and found him dead on his bed as if he had passed in his sleep but do to the lack of neighbors in that area 28 days had passed since his demise. Seeing as no next of kin was known and he being my customer I was designated to handle the arrangements and do the paper work. Do to the condition of the body I was given just 24 hrs to decide what to do with the remains or he would be sent to a paupers grave. Having been a customer of mine for over ten years I could not let that happen so I had him cremated and will keep the urn until a relative can be located. I understand he had a daughter but have no information what so ever. If anyone has any knowledge or can help please contact me here in Los Barriles. David lived off of his Social Security check so therefore had no money and I paid for his cremation so he didn’t end up in Potters field. Perhaps the community would be willing to help with my expenses that were right at one thousand dollars until we can find an heir. Please feel free to contact my office with any information you might have. As a foot note I would like to add that everyone with a home here have next of kin or who to notify information with somebody that is always here. You cannot believe the red tape I had to wade through by not knowing a next of kin for David starting with the police, U.S. Consul in Tijuana, Municipal Judge, Public Registry and Funeral home, that wouldn’t touch him without orders from the U.S. Consul. If it was a nightmare for me having many resources available imagine what it would be like for a foreigner.
Thank you,  Dennis C. Riley
(Personal note from Cheryl.  David Goodman took several pictures of the June 28, 2011 Costa Brava fire I posted on BPE#1125.  When he sent the photos I wrote back and thanked him and I found out where he lived.  I met David shortly after the fire on one of my morning walks.  When I saw him in the yard I stopped, introduce myself and we chatted.  We need to reimburse  Dennis who has given David Goodman a proper and respectful end to his life.  If you have an account with Dennis, email him your instructions.   With almost 2200 address on the BPE list this should be a quick and easy project.   Maybe someone would volunteer to accept mail and bring it to LB in October so people could pop a dollar in an envelope.  I 'll send updates. Thank you, Cheryl)
September is the month when Notarios Publicos give discount on Wills and Testament, each person who have any goods in Mexico should have a Will and Testament so as to reduce problems and cost when time comes to open the succession. Remember that goods which are in the property of a person are his or hers even after death and anyone who appropriates himself or herself of the goods without proper autorisation is doing a crime against the succession. CAN-AM-MEX Law Firm team can help you in having the proper Will and Testament, can-am-mex-law-firm@hotmail.com or 24/7 612 348-9793
