Update on Char Wenger
Char went to the US on June 3rd for what was supposed to be a
medical checkup. She was placed in the hospital and had emergency
surgery on the 7th. Since that time she has been in the hospital all
but a few days. Char has developed an infection and is currently in
the intensive care unit in serious condition. Please keep her in
your thoughts and prayers. The doctors expect her to make a full
recovery, but it will be awhile until she is able to travel back to
Los Barriles. At this time, Char is unable to receive any emails or
phone calls. I will keep everyone updated on her condition on the
BPE.
I n the meantime, per Char’s guidance, the medical clinic and
the dental clinic will continue to operate as usual. The emergency
services improvement project will go forward as planned. If I can be
of assistance, please fill free to contact me at the medical clinic
(141-0797) or the dental clinic (141-0375).
If anyone is going to the States in the next week or
so, I need a package mailed to Char. If you would like to include a
card or note to her please drop it off at the medical clinic and I
will include it in the package.

The Buena Vista Bomberos of the East Cape, Baja California Sur
received the heavy rescue struts on Tuesday June 28th. They
now have greater capabilities, along with the training they
received, to stabilize vehicles and rescue people. Thanks go
out to: Rescue 42 & Tim O'Connell, Tony Martinez, Mike Carr and the
International Emergency Services Fund (IESF), Char Wenger of East
Cape Medical Clinic A special thanks to all the people who supported
the fundraising efforts and a commitment to increasing the quality
and capabilities of the emergency services of the East Cape.

Third Annual Festival D'Arte, La Paz - La Paz Six Begins
Preparations for 3rd Annual Festival d’ Arte to be held Nov. 27,
2011, at Marina Palmira. The Coordinating Committee for the La Paz
Festival D'Arte recently met to plan the 2011 event. Led by the La
Paz Six, a civic-minded local group of artists here in La Paz, the
next Festival is beginning to take shape.
After two successful years, with help from the city of
La Paz, local cultural organizations, as well some State Government
officials, the Festival d’Arte has rapidly become a celebration of
art and music for all to enjoy. The coordinating committee hopes to
find ways to emphasize the beauty and fragility of the Sierra De La
Laguna Biosphere as part of the fabric of this year’s celebration.
Artists wishing to register for a booth, will follow
the same procedure as last year. Registration Information will
follow in subsequent announcements. Last year more than $3,000 USD

a. I would like to express my sincere condolences to those who lost
their lovely homes in Costa Brava Park. To George and Betty,

a. Update: Baja Wok is a Great little place. Homemade noodles with
fresh sauces. Big bowls of food. Good prices. A little out of the
way but worth the find ! Closed on Mon. See BPE # 1120 for link to

b. The Drugstore, Victoria, located in the same mall as the Comex
paint store and laundrymat , is having a hard time staying in
business. I love this store. His prices are lower than Cabo and
some are half the price of other drugstores in town. If you are a
loyal customer he will give you even more of a discount. He also
special orders health products like agave sweeteners, decaf green
tea or whatever is you can't find in town. He really makes an effort
to get what you need. For those of you that have to take daily
medicine, Please go try out Farmacia Victoria. I think you will be
surprised at their prices and quality, They also deliver to your
home.

c. Can anyone tell me their experience with internet in Baja Sur,
preferably in the Los Barriles area. I’m an internet professional
and I'm moving to our place in Los Barriles for a while. I already
have a working telephone in and reliable fast internet is pretty
critical to me. It’s possible that those 3 words, “reliable fast
internet” should not be used in the same sentence when referring to
Baja or Los Barriles so I decided to ask the locals there what
they’ve found works best, who to contact and any pricing details you
can help me with. I appreciate your help and input and look forward
